Please Help Save The Seaside Boardwalk Cats!

xmRldlzynJBLJaK-800x450-noPad

The Seaside Heights Animal Welfare Organization has cared for the majestic cats of the Seaside Boardwalk by creating a colony system, which provides well maintained shelters and feeding stations since 2012. Through grants and individual donations, over 300 cats have been trapped, neutered and released at no cost to the tax payers. We all love to see the cats under the Boardwalk but the way they control the rodent population in this tourist hot spot is of huge importance. Recently, the board members who work tirelessly each day to feed and maintain the colonies, have been stripped of their positions leaving the cats without the care they are used to or supportive people who would do anything to protect them. Please sign this petition to help the Mayor of Seaside Heights understand how important these cats are to the public who visit this town regularly and love seeing them. Further, to see how the team leading SSHAWO need to be reinstated to their established place helping the cats in a hands in way. With the upcoming camp outs on the beaches-the cats are of critical importance against rodents that might move in. TNR works and this group is a wonderful part of the town of Seaside Heights. Please sign and share!

Pets Need YOUR Help!

Shelter killing is the leading cause of death for healthy dogs and cats in the United States. Today, an animal entering a shelter has only one chance in two of making it out alive, and in some places it is as low as one in ten, with shelters blaming a lack of available homes as the cause of death. And yet, statistics reveal that there are over seven times as many people looking to bring an animal into their home every year as there are animals being killed in shelters because they lack one. Almost half of all animals who enter our nation’s shelters go out the back door in garbage bags rather than out the front door in the loving arms of adopters despite the fact that there are plenty of homes available. And when animal lovers question the excuses used to justify this killing, shelters and their national allies respond, “We are all on the same side,” “We all want the same thing,” “We are all animal lovers” and insist that criticism of shelters and staff is unfair and callous because “No one wants to kill.” The facts, however, tragically and frequently tell a very different story. How can you fix a problem you refuse to admit exists? How can shelters reform their practices when they refuse to have standards and benchmarks that would hold them accountable to the best performing shelters in the nation? They can’t. They don’t. And they won’t. So you will have to do it for them. These guides will show you how:

The Needle and the Damage Done

YesBiscuit!

In the United States, we kill millions of pets in shelters every year.  Most of them are healthy and friendly – or at least treatable.  And there are enough homes for all of them.  As a society, we have come to accept the killing as “unavoidable” because that’s what we are continually told by those sanctioning and performing the killing.  But that is a lie.

Did you know that some shelter pets are killed for readily treatable conditions such as ear mites, ringworm or obesity?  Others are killed immediately upon intake because a shelter worker is afraid of possibly getting scratched, because it’s close to quitting time, or simply because they are kittens.

Even pets with homes eagerly waiting for them are killed because:

PETA Partners with a Local AC Unit in Killing 19,000 Animals

PETA strikes again – this time in Lake Elsinore, CA at a facility breeding rodents and reptiles.  One of PETA’s infamous undercover investigations documenting alleged cruelty was brought to the city government.  The city partnered with PETA, local animal control and a number of other organizations to investigate the facility.  On December 16, city spokesman Justin Carlson “said experts will treat any of the reptiles or rodents if they are found to be ill.”

From a series of press releases on the city’s website:

December 13:

Yesterday, the City inspected the facility and found evidence of animal neglect.

PETA spokeswoman Daphna Nachminovitch commented that PETA’s mission in this case is to ensure all animals receive necessary treatment[.]

PETA Problems: They Killed Tiger Before We Got a Chance to Kill Him Ourselves

YesBiscuit!

Snipped from a current PETA e-mail asking for money:

PETA cares so much about the research lab cat in this e-mail, they gave him a name – Tiger. They mention how he probably liked to get scratched behind the ears and went into happy mode at mealtimes.  And they condemn the research facility who killed him and claim that “more than half of the cats” were killed at the facility in recent years.  Oh and money – send money.

Setting aside the issue of research animals for the moment, I want to draw attention to PETA’s annual report to the state of VA for 2011.  PETA took in 1214 cats last year – 8 were transferred to other facilities, 5 were adopted, 2 were redeemed by owners and 1198 were killed.  PETA killed 99% of the cats in its care in 2011.  That’s “more than half”, in case your…

President Obama swatted a fly. Always at hand for a chance at free publicity, PETA has condemned the swattage. CNN and a great many other MSM outlets have carried the PETA response but I have yet to see a single one mention the bitter irony that PETA actually kills – not euthanizeskills thousands of homeless pets every year without making a single effort to find them homes. PETA doesn’t even have a “shelter”.* They just take in homeless pets and kill them. Immediately. From intake to freezer in 60 seconds flat. So forgive me MSM but you’ll need to do a leetle better than simply running with the bullshit PETA hands you. Vetting, anyone?

With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility

13177916_1057196327700987_4240173963130075298_n

Responsibility. It is said that “with great power comes great responsibility”. Sadly, there are members of society who are in a position so powerful, that their decisions mean the difference between life and death for millions of beautiful, precious individuals. Sadly, these disgraces take this great power and use it…well…. IRRESPONSIBLY. I speak of death camps for pets. You know them as “animal shelters”.

The ironic thing, however, is that these irresponsibles point fingers at others, as a way of trying, unsuccessfully, to dismiss their OWN irresponsibility.(We will refer to these disgraces as “irresponsibles” in this post, because that is what they are).

Nowhere, is this more obvious than in the world of animal sheltering.

One of the main differences, perhaps THE most vital difference, between No Kill Shelters (genuine shelters) and death camps with the words “animal shelter” posted on the front of their slaughterhouse, is their ATTITUDE.

No Kill Shelters, have a “CAN DO” attitude. They raise the animal sheltering bar high, for they are RESPONSIBLE enough to know that their jobs have put them in a position of great power, and with great power, great responsibility must be present, or tragedy will surely follow. No Kill Shelters are also run by genuine animal lovers, thus explaining why they are NO KILL. Love doesn’t kill. It only loves….protects…and provides SHELTER!

Kill “shelters” (fraudulent “shelters” that are nothing more than houses of death) on the other hand, have a horrible “NO can do” attitude. They have a defeatist’s attitude. They have already failed at their job before they even get out of bed in the morning, because they have decided to NOT raise the animal sheltering bar high, but to instead let it fall right onto the floor. They are too busy having a ‘pity party’ for themselves, where they think “Boo hoo….poor us….society are irresponsible monsters who abuse and hoard animals and dump them on us…we deserve better”.

My response: Yeah, cry me a river, you selfish irresponsibles!! But when your tears dry, realize this: MURDERING INNOCENT SOULS ONLY COMPOUNDS THE TRAGEDY, IT DOES NOT REMEDY IT. It is NOT the job of a “shelter” to feel sorry for THEMSELVES. A SHELTER’S JOB IS TO FEEL EMPATHY FOR THE ANIMALS….AFTER ALL..THE ANIMALS ARE THE ONES WHO ARE  SOMETIMES ABANDONED, ABUSED, ETC, not the irresponsibles working at the “shelter”.

Furthermore, any “shelter” Director, Operator, Employee, etc. that sees a beautiful soul come through their doors, and thinks, “Great, another animal dumped on us” needs to get their sorry buttocks out of the “shelter” and into another line of work. Because GARBAGE is “dumped”. Our fellow animals are NOT garbage. They are our EQUALS, and this IRRESPONSIBLE language that some “shelters” use, equating their inhabitants to “garbage” is ignorant, arrogant, and wrong. If you don’t even have the respect and regard for a fellow living soul, to think of the animal FIRST, and yourself second, you are an IRRESPONSIBLE, who needs to find a new line of work (perhaps the sanitation department). This isn’t a game. You’re not working in a shoe store. THIS IS ABOUT LIFE AND DEATH!

The RESPONSIBLE shelter sees a beautiful, fellow living soul come through their doors, thinks, “Aww, don’t worry baby, you’re safe now. We will make any abandonment, abuse, neglect, etc. that you may (OR MAY NOT HAVE) suffered in the past, a distant memory, and replace them with love, happiness, healing, compassion, and a reverence for your precious life, you beautiful soul. WE PROMISE…we will shelter you, until we find you a good, loving forever home.”

THAT is how a genuine SHELTER operates!

Of course orphanages would LOVE for parents to be responsible or to live forever!

Of course domestic violence shelters would LOVE for everyone to treat their partners tenderly and lovingly!

Of course animal shelters would LOVE for every pet owner to be responsible and patient with their pets!

But in an imperfect world, things are, by definition, not perfect. That is the reason why shelters exist! To SHELTER those in need! Shelters exist, not for workers to complain about having to help someone, they exist so that workers can be compassionate enough and RESPONSIBLE enough to take on the challenge and PRIVILEGE OF BEING ABLE TO HELP SOMEONE, and to FEEL GOOD to have an opportunity to provide SHELTER, and to make a fellow living soul’s life better, and to make that fellow living soul FEEL GOOD! That’s a GOOD THING. Don’t complain about it! Be grateful that you are in such a powerful position where you can be RESPONSIBLE for someone’s safety, well being, and their very SURVIVAL! That’s a privilege, not a burden! That’s an opportunity to SAVE A LIFE, not to end a life!  You are in a position of  great power, and you must meet it with great RESPONSIBILITY!

Let’s also get another thing straight: The MAJORITY of pet lovers in the world are good, caring, RESPONSIBLE individuals, who do without, so that their companion animals can have what they want, need, enjoy, etc. We buy Christmas gifts for our Soulmates on 4 legs, we celebrate their birthdays. we play with them, we sleep with them, eat with them, watch TV with them, read books with them, etc. We would DIE for them! So, when you hear an irresponsible calling pet lovers “irresponsible”, correct them, and tell them to have a Starbucks, and to wake up from their hibernation of ignorance.

It’s a shame, that I need to tell those who run “shelters” what their job is, but since they are too busy IRRESPONSIBLY blaming the public, for THEIR (the shelter’s) IRRESPONSIBLE mass murdering of animals, and portraying everyone else in society as blood thirsty vampires with a ‘cruelty to animals gene’ who are out hunting for animals to abuse, even though ABUSE AND MURDER IS MOST RAMPANT INSIDE OF A “SHELTER” NOT OUTSIDE OF IT, AND EVEN THOUGH THIS RAMPANT ABUSE AND MURDER IS COMMITTED BY “SHELTER” OPERATORS AND EMPLOYEES, NOT BY THE PUBLIC,  I’ll tell them what their job is, and what their job is NOT:

It is NOT the job of a “shelter” to complain and feel sorry for themselves, about having to shelter animals.

It IS the job of a shelter to THINK SOLELY of what is best for the animals (Loving the animals, treating the animals, keeping their cages clean, feeding them, giving them water, playing with them, sharing love with them, etc)

It is NOT the job of a “shelter” to point fingers at the public, and blame them for the animals being there. Whatever happened is in the past. You cannot control it. But YOU CAN & YOU WILL control the future fate of the animal! Will you RESPONSIBLY SHELTER the animal, or will you IRRESPONSIBLY MURDER the animal? Whatever you choose, is on YOU and YOU ALONE. Not fair? Tough luck. It’s your job, so you might as well do what’s RIGHT (saving the animal)  instead of doing what’s WRONG (murdering the animal).

It IS the job of a shelter to not concern themselves with HOW or WHY the animals are there, but to instead concern themselves with SHELTERING the animals. The animals are there. Nothing else matters. All that matters is WHAT WILL YOU DO, AND HOW WILL YOU SHELTER THEM, NOW THAT THEY ARE THERE? You have a job to do…take care of the animals, feed them, treat them if necessary, and SHELTER them, while you search for a good loving home for them (as opposed to sitting on your rumps and waiting for the perfect family to walk through the door).

The antithesis of “sheltering” is when a “shelter” murders a healthy/treatable animal. THAT’S NOT “SHELTERING”, THAT’S MURDERING.

THUS, IT IS NOT THE JOB OF A SHELTER, TO MURDER ANIMALS, ANYMORE SO THAN IT’S THE JOB OF ORPHANAGES TO MURDER CHILDREN, OR THE JOB OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SHELTERS TO MURDER BATTERED WIVES.

It IS the job of a shelter to SHELTER animals. BY definition, this requires that the shelter be a safe haven, that protects and SHELTERS animals from harm (abuse and death), and the only genuine shelter is a No Kill shelter, because only they, by their ACTIONS, meet the requirements of a genuine shelter, by definition.And only they take the great power bestowed upon them and use that power with GREAT RESPONSIBILITY as their guide. And it is IRRESPONSIBLE and just plain WRONG to murder healthy/treatable animals, and No Kill shelters are RESPONSIBLE enough to know that.

The following words should be inscribed on the front door, or on the wall of the lobby, or entrance area of every animal shelter in the world, to remind everyone of the purpose of animal shelters:

Ask not what companion animals can do for you, ask what YOU can do FOR companion animals.

Nowhere, will you find a dictionary, with “SHELTER” defined as : “To kill innocent souls who are equal to you in every way. To disregard life. To be irresponsible. To be a Murderer.”

Because that is NOT a “shelter”. And neither are facilities that murder their inhabitants, instead of sheltering them.

And that is a Universal Truth.

PETA is Trying to Get Away with Murder

Peta death kit

The PETA field killing kit found by police in the back of a PETA death van.

URGENT: Your Help Needed to Stop Legislation Which Would Allow PETA to Continue Killing Thousands of Animals Every Year.

At the behest of PETA, Virginia Delegate Bobby Orrock has just filed three bills to repeal SB 1381, a law passed last year designed to put PETA out of the killing business. That law, which required that Virginia shelters be “operated for the purpose of finding permanent adoptive homes” was designed to force PETA specifically, and private shelters generally, to do what the public already thinks “shelters” do: find homes for the animals they take in rather than kill them, as PETA currently does with thousands of animals every year, including healthy puppies and kittens and animals they have stolen from their families. Failure to do so would result in revocation of PETA’s license to operate a shelter.

Orrock’s legislation, HB 156 and HB 340, repeal that provision of SB 1381 by allowing “shelters” to be organized solely for the purpose of killing animals, with no requirement that they try to find animals homes.

Orrock’s third bill, HB 157, removes the power of the Virginia Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services (VDACS), which oversees shelters in Virginia, to revoke a shelter’s license, even if they violate regulations governing the conduct of those shelters.

If HS 156, HS 157, or HB 340 pass, PETA will be allowed to continue killing thousands of animals a year with impunity, while other regressive shelters will have no legal incentive to follow the law and do their job of rehoming lost and stray animals.

What are the chances of success for these devastating bills?

Despite PETA’s intense lobbying effort to derail SB 1381 last year, the votes were not even close: 95 to 2 in the House and 35 to 1 in the Senate and the Governor signed it into law. Why? At the time, media coverage about Maya – the beloved chihuahua captured on video being stolen from her porch by PETA which later admitted it illegally took and killed her – was intense, and Virginia residents, concerned for the lives of their pets at the hands of PETA’s roaming death squads and the lives of other animals, made their voices heard. The legislation designed to stop them from stealing and killing Virginia’s animal companions had massive public and political support.

This time, PETA is using donor funds to hire as many as seven lobbyists for Orrock’s bills (two directly and as many as five more for PETA shills), and unless Virginia residents speak out as they did last time, there is a good chance PETA will prevail. Thousands of lives every year hang in the balance as Orrock’s bills are designed to let PETA get away with murder. They will also set back the welfare of animals entering Virginia private shelters generally, as Orrock’s bills grant them the legal authority to kill animals without any effort at adoption and even to neglect and abuse them by eliminating the power of VDACS to revoke their shelter license if they do so. We must fight back.

What you can do to protect the animals of Virginia.

The only thing that can prevail against seven hired guns is the power of the people. If you live in Virginia, please contact your legislator and ask him/her to vote No on HB 156, HB 157, and HB 340. You can locate your delegate by clicking here.

In addition, please POLITELY tell Delegate Orrock that his bills will cause the deaths of thousands of animals every year and he should withdraw them:

(804) 698-1054
DelBOrrock@house.virginia.gov

Delegate Bobby Orrock
General Assembly Building
P.O. Box 406
Richmond, VA 23218

Here’s sample language:

Last year, after PETA was caught on videotape stealing a healthy, beloved dog from her porch and then later admitting to immediately killing her, the people and politicians of Virginia made their will clear: with overwhelming bipartisan support, SB 1381 passed – a bill designed to put PETA out of the killing business by making it illegal for Virginia shelters to do little more than kill homeless animals rather than find them homes. This year, you have introduced three bills seeking to overturn this important animal protection law, placing some the state’s neediest animals in mortal peril.

Your bills, HB 156 and HB 340, eviscerate SB 1381 by allowing “shelters” to be organized solely for the purpose of killing animals. With no requirement that they try to find animals homes, HB 156 and HB 340 are a cynical and devastating attempt to do nothing more than grant PETA the right to continue killing thousands of animals every year. But they will also grant other private shelters carte blanche to do the same. No longer will the law require private shelters to do the job the good people of Virginia expect and donate to them to do: rehome lost and stray dogs and cats with compassion and dedication.

Your third bill, HB 157, removes the power of the Virginia Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services which oversees shelters to stop a shelter from killing even if that shelter violates regulations governing the conduct of those shelters. It, too, is a cynical and devastating tool to allow private shelters generally, and PETA specifically, to act lawlessly in order to strip the state’s most vulnerable animals of vital, lifesaving protections.

Please withdraw these devastating, anti-animal bills immediately, and stop cozying up with an organization seeking the legal authority to round up and kill thousands of healthy Virginia animals every year, including puppies, kittens and animals stolen from their families.

If you do not live in Virginia, please share with those who do.

Defining No Kill

From the No Kill Advocacy Center:

definingnokillcover_00011

An end to the killing of all non-irremediably suffering animals.

“Irremediable physical suffering” means an animal who has a poor or grave prognosis for being able to live without severe, unremitting pain even with prompt, necessary, and comprehensive veterinary care.

In our ongoing effort to bring rigor, accountability and transparency to American shelters, we are proud to release “Defining No Kill,” a guide to prevent existing misuse and abuse of the term, and to ensure that even those shelters which have achieved success continue to innovate and modernize sheltering operations until all animals entering those shelters receive the loving care that is their birthright.

At the No Kill Advocacy Center, we come by the definition and guiding principles within this guide through several means: evidence, analysis, an awareness of how far the sheltering industry has progressed over the last decade, and an unequivocal commitment to the highest ideals of the animal protection movement. Nonetheless, we recognize that some of what we advocate involves discussions that many do not want to have. They will argue that the definition and guiding principles are premature and would be more politically convenient to embrace at a later date, when more or most communities are saving better than 95%. In other words, they will claim that we are setting the bar too high.

We disagree. Much of what our organization has advocated over the past decade was also greeted with admonition and decried as impossible but has since been adopted by hundreds of shelters and organizations nationwide, including some of the largest in the nation. There is no reason to assume that further innovation will not likewise receive the same eventual acceptance. Second, and more importantly, it is our duty to do so. With animal shelters throughout the nation claiming to be “No Kill” while simultaneously killing animals who are not irremediably suffering, ignoring the plight of these animals by allowing such shelters to claim success short of the actual goal line means animals not only needlessly lose their lives, but that we risk embodying the very things the No Kill movement was founded to combat: the stagnation and complacency with killing that characterized generations of shelter leaders following the industry’s founding.

The animals still being killed matter just as much as those who no longer face death, and for many of them, such as behaviorally challenged dogs, our duty is compounded by the fact that we—as humans—are often responsible for their condition through our neglect, abuse, and undersocialization. Relieving us of that burden by killing such animals does not result in redress for them.

This view does not mean we deny that some communities currently face infrastructure, legal, and other impediments to saving all these animals at this time, but rather that we do not allow such current limitations to hinder our vision, to stop us from setting aspirational goals and continually striving to improve the care of the animals served by working to overcome those obstacles. Indeed, the underpinning of the No Kill philosophy is that it goes beyond what is commonly assumed to be a practical necessity by focusing on what is morally right. It is, first and foremost, a movement of beliefs, of ethics, of what our vision of compassion is now and for the future. Its success is a result of a philosophy prompting us to do better; to embrace more progressive, life-affirming methods of sheltering that address the needs of animals still falling through the safety net of care. Failing to admit to the existence of such gaps means the impetus to eliminate them simply disappears.

Before many of us within the No Kill movement felt comfortable with the answer to questions of whether or not “feral” cats suffered on the street and whether or not No Kill was possible, we had already rejected mass killing. We had rejected practical explanations based on a “too many animals, not enough homes” calculus, or that a death was preferable to indeterminate future suffering. Even though early in the No Kill movement’s history, though the practical alternative of the No Kill Equation was yet unknown, the movement still recognized that whatever practical explanations there were to “justify” it, the killing was still wrong and had to be rejected. Moreover, calculations which elevate expediency over what is right are generally inaccurate and historically, have been used to excuse atrocities. Ethics will always trump the practical and the two are seldom so inexorably linked that an untoward action must follow some fixed practical imperative.

Every action taken by animal advocates must be subservient to preserving life, a principle that not only puts our movement in line with the successful rights-based movements that have come before ours, but is a philosophy that fosters the motivation necessary for us to figure out how we can bring our aspirations into reality. That is the job and duty of the animal protection movement, not—as it has historically done—to justify or enable the killing of animals with tired maxims that are not subjected to rigorous analysis.

A better and ethically consistent future in animal sheltering inevitably awaits us if the No Kill movement can continue to do what it has always done until every last animal entering our nation’s shelters—whatever the species, whatever the challenge—no longer faces killing: overcome the flawed but mutable traditions we have inherited from prior generations. The sooner we recognize the need for change and further innovation, the sooner we will find the motivation and tools to bring that brighter future into reality.

From Nathanwinograd.com:

Last year, the Virginia Legislature overwhelmingly passed SB 1381, requiring shelters in Virginia to be “operated for the purpose of finding permanent adoptive homes.” In other words, it mandated shelters do did what the public already thinks shelters do and what the dictionary says they do. But PETA doesn’t. PETA—which is licensed in Virginia as a shelter—kills 90% of the animals, adopts out only 1%, and steals animals like Maya, a happy and healthy dog, from her porch in order to kill her (and others).

Despite PETA’s intense effort to derail the vote, the House of Representatives voted 95 to 2 in favor of the bill. The bill passed the Senate by an equally lopsided vote: 35 to 1. And the Governor signed it. Opposition to PETA’s roving death squads may just be the only true bipartisan issue in Virginia.

Now, PETA appears intent on trying to subvert it with hired guns, hoping their odds are better both with the 2016 legislature and in the Virginia Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services which has been tasked with writing the regulations to implement the law. Unfortunately for the animals, the leadership and staff at VDACS–namely Commissioner Sandra Adams, State Veterinarian Richard Wilkes, and Program Manager Carolyn Bissett–have so far proven themselves to be typically bureaucratic, tragically indifferent, fundamentally uncaring, and as is so typical of oversight agencies, willing to overlook PETA’s criminal conduct by bending over backward for the entity they are supposed to be regulating.

While VDACS sits on its hands, an additional 4,500 animals will be needlessly killed at the behest of Ingrid Newkirk’s dark and disturbing impulses and the families of the animals they round up and kill across Norfolk and surrounding areas will be left heartbroken. In other words, VDACS appears content to allow PETA to get away with murder.

What You Can Do:

Don’t let VDACS continue to get away with turning a blind eye and foot dragging. Please send a polite, but emphatic, email to Adams, Wilkes, and Bissett that you expect them to do their jobs and honor the intent of the legislature and the will of the people:

  • Comm. Sandra Adams: sandy.adams@vdacs.virginia.gov
  • Dr. Richard Wilkes: richard.wilkes@vdacs.virginia.gov
  • Dr. Carolynn Bissett: carolynn.bissett@vdacs.virginia.gov

Tell them that PETA kills 90% of the animals it takes in, that it steals people’s animals and puts them to death in violation of state laws and regulations, that it has always maintained it is “not in the home finding business” and has made virtually no effort to do so, and that it has a history of criminal conduct and lying to people in order to acquire and kill animals. As such, it cannot legally be licensed as a private shelter under SB 1381. And while you are at it, tell them that we should not have to wait years for VDACS to act while PETA kills thousands more.

PETA – A Monster That MUST Be Euthanized

“The bigger the lie, the more people will believe it” – A Nazi Dictator (Guess Who?)

When someone portrays themselves as being one thing, while actually being the opposite, especially while engaged in lethal deceptions, they are called “Wolves in Sheeps’ Clothing”. (No offense to Wolves. But I WOULD be HAPPY if PETA gets offended by this post.) PETA are the opposite of what they claim to be. They are a lethal lie. They are a cancer that takes the “rights” out of the “animal rights” movement. They MURDER animals, they don’t save them. They are UNETHICAL, despite their nice little name. They LIE, while calling it “truth”. They MURDER, while calling it “Saving”. They call their murders “loving”, when in reality, they are utterly devoid of love. They call themselves “animal rights activists” while admitting that they “DON’T believe that animals have a right to live”. They are a walking contradiction. They are a verbal incoherency incarnate. They DEPICT animal suffering, but do NOTHING to stop it. They DO NOT go to a fur/meat farm in China and stand in between savage killers and the cats/dogs who the savages want to murder and eat. Instead, they get naked in the MEDIA capital of the world (New York City) and *say* that they do it to stop the savages a million miles away, with NOBODY standing in between them and the animals they look to kill and eat, because PETA wanted a photo-op more than they wanted to stop animals being killed/eaten. They get naked NOT for animals, but for ATTENTION, because getting in the news attracts people to your website……the one full of “Donate Now” buttons, but devoid of “Click To Help Us Pass Legislation To Save Cats/Dogs Now” buttons. They MURDER cats and dogs..they don’t save them. Want proof? Look at what PETA did to these animals, who were HEALTHY/TREATABLE and had plenty of life to live BEFORE PETA DID THIS: http://www.whypetaeuthanizes.org/photos/

There, you HAVE PROOF. Now, what are you going to do with it? Ignore it, and side with the animal murderers at PETA? Or have the courage to side with PETA’s VICTIMS…the animals whom you claim to “love”? WHOM DO YOU PLEDGE YOUR ALLEGIANCE TO? To Animals? Or to their killers in Norfolk Virginia.

PETA are exploiters of animals whom they turn their backs on, in favor of bleached blondes with fake boobs.  All flash. No substance. All donations given TO them in the name of animals by animal lovers. All donor money used BY them, to MURDER THE VERY ANIMALS THE DONORS INTENDED TO SAVE.

PETA have become a monster that Dr. Frankenstein himself wouldn’t dare bring to life, in order to cause so much death.

http://www.whypetaeuthanizes.org/photos/

A brief lesson on why NOT to create a monster, and why, now that it has been created, IT, and IT ALONE must be the only one destroyed:

==================================================================================

Example 1.

PETA has long been accused of stealing animals in neighborhoods around Norfolk, VA, and putting them to death. We now have definitive proof. A surveillance video shows a PETA van and employee walking up to someone’s porch and taking their dog. That dog is now dead. A little girl is devastated. PETA has no comment: http://wavy.com/2014/11/12/man-claims-peta-stole-killed-family-pet/

Why does PETA round up and kill family companions? Why do they call for the round up and killing of community cats? Why do they support the killing of every pit bull in every shelter in America? Why do they fight shelter reform laws? Why do they tell shelters not to foster animals and not to work with rescue groups? Why do they defend abusive shelters? And why do they kill 95% of all animals they seek out—about 30,000 over the last 11 years—including healthy kittens and puppies?

Is it because Ingrid Newkirk is mentally ill? Is PETA a political death cult? How do they convince young animal lovers who arrive on their doorstep and turn them into unrepentant animal killers? At this time in history, we do not yet know the answers to these dark and disturbing questions. Yet even if we can merely speculate about the why and the how 2,000 animals die at the hands of PETA employees each and every year and why they steal family pets only to put them to death, ethics compel every animal lover to see beyond the façade PETA has created to mask the ugly and sordid truth about what that organization really is. Because for all we do not know, this much is certain: PETA is letting loose upon the world individuals who not only maniacally believe that killing is a good thing and that the living want to die, but who are legally armed with lethal drugs which they have already proven—29,426 times in the last decade—that they are not adverse to using.

In the last 11 years, 29,426 animals have died at PETA’s hands including those they themselves described as “healthy,” “adorable,” and “perfect.” In some cases, this includes animals they promised to find homes for, only to put them to death within minutes in the back of a van—a donor-funded mobile death squad on wheels. It includes kittens and puppies. According to Ingrid Newkirk, PETA is “not in the home finding business.” Its mission is to put animals to death. PETA has no adoption hours, it does not keep animals alive long enough to find homes, and it does no adoption promotion. You can learn more in Nathan Winograd’s Huffington Post expose by clicking here. How is this legal? PETA is registered in Virginia as an animal shelter.

========================================================================

Example 2.

In 2014, PETA took in 1,605 cats in 2014 and killed 1,536 (a kill rate of 96%). They transferred another 43 to kill shelters. If they were killed or displaced others who were killed, that would put the cat kill rate as high as 98%. They found homes for only 16, an adoption rate of 1%.

PETA also took in 1,021 dogs of which they killed 788 (a kill rate of 77%). Another 210 were transferred to kill shelters. Like the cats, if they were killed or displaced others who were killed, the dog death rate would also be as high as 98%.

==========================================================================

Example 3.

In 2015 PETA JOINED FORCES WITH HUNTERS in NY

http://www.nathanwinograd.com/?p=15370

The PETA scum, who have long *claimed* to be against hunting, has once again proven themselves to be a bunch of hypocritical, animal killing ba$tards. They have sided WITH hunters AGAINST animals!

We shouldnt be surprised though…during the “Horse slaughter” debate, PETA sided WITH the meat industry, IN FAVOR of the Horse slaughter!

If PETA asks you for a donation, just say “NEIGH”.

==================================================================================

Example 4.

2015: Courageous Former PETA Employee Breaks Silence, Exposes PETA’s Closet Full of Skeletons (Literally and figuratively)

As media outlets across the country highlight PETA’s killing, as millions of animal lovers become informed of their true agenda, as the Virginia Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services (VDACS) opens an inquiry into PETA’s killing, as elected officials call for an investigation of PETA, and as the Virginia Legislature successfully passed a bill to stop PETA’s killing, former PETA employees are finally speaking out.

In an article, one of those former employees writes:

“I know from first hand experience that the PETA leadership has no problem lying. I was told regularly to not enter animals into the log, or to euthanize off site in order to prevent animals from even entering the building. I was told regularly to greatly overestimate the weight of animals whose euthanasia we recorded in order to account for what would have otherwise been missing ‘blue juice’ (the chemical used to euthanize), because that allowed us to euthanize animals off the books. I was told regularly to say whatever I had to say in order to get people to surrender animals to me, lying was not only acceptable, it was encouraged… Contrary to what PETA maintains, the majority of animals it takes in are not beyond hope, in my experience many would be considered highly adoptable by a shelter, the ‘better off dead’ line is one that is dragged out in order to excuse what they do–and it’s a lie.”

You can read it here: http://bit.ly/1KGBzMx

=============================================================

Example 5.

As many of you know, following the arrest of two PETA employees for the theft and killing of Maya, a family’s dog, the No Kill Advocacy Center petitioned the State Veterinarian at the Virginia Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services (VDACS) to revoke PETA’s status as a “shelter” for violations of law including larceny, state holding periods, and state regulations regarding the killing of animals in shelters: http://delmarvane.ws/1DCwIxQ

– The Virginia Federation of Humane Societies which writes that “PETA is ‘using’ its status as a ‘shelter’ to the great detriment of animals in the Commonwealth [of Virginia]”: http://bit.ly/ZgBzfb

– A Virginia state senator who has called for an investigation of PETA, writing that “they are worthy of intense review and scrutiny”: http://bit.ly/1uAn44m

Now, the Richmond SPCA adds its voice as it Stand for Maya. Read their letter to VDACS:http://bit.ly/1sxijIO

================================================================================

Example 6.

The theft and killing of Maya is merely the latest in a long line of untoward actions on the part of PETA which uses its status as a shelter to acquire animals for the purpose of killing them and to have access to sodium pentobarbital, the controlled substance used to poison the animals. Since the late 1990s, PETA has killed over 30,000 animals, roughly 2,000 animals a year including kittens and puppies.

Here is the data, self-reported by PETA to the Virginia Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services, showing roughly 9 out of 10 animals they seek out are killed by them: http://bit.ly/1ba9xdC

Here is an inspection report by the Virginia State Vet showing PETA kills 90% of animals within 24 hours without even trying to find them homes: http://bit.ly/1eHkWlD

============================================================================

Example 7.

Here is an OpEd piece written by PETA founder Ingrid Newkirk which appeared in newspapers across the country where PETA says it supports a policy that all pit bulls should be killed in all shelters in America: http://bit.ly/XrvcKf

===============================================================

Example 8.

Here is a newspaper article about the 2007 trial of PETA employees after they were found to be rounding up and killing animals in the back of a van after promising to find them homes:http://bit.ly/XCSdI3

===========================================================

Example 9.

Here is the news station report of PETA stealing a little girl’s
“happy and healthy” dog and killing him: http://bit.ly/1EIsEHq

========================================================

Example 10.

Here is a video made by Shelby County KY shelter volunteers after PETA celebrated when that shelter announced it was going to resume killing after four years as a No Kill shelter:http://vimeo.com/48651351

========================================

Example 11.

Here is a letter written by PETA to a Mayor telling him to kill all pit bulls, not to foster animals, and not to work with rescue groups: http://bit.ly/ZAnrvQ

========================================

Example 12.

If, after viewing this:  www.whypetaeuthanizes.org/photos/ you still support PETA, please be aware that you are as big of an “animal loving” fraud as PETA is.

====================================================

I could go on, and on, and on, but my goal wasn’t to write a sequel to “War and Peace” as lengthy as the original, my goal was to prove that PETA is an animal murdering monster, and it is my hope that genuine animal lovers will come together as ONE, like angry villagers in a monster movie, and eradicate the monster known as PETA.

The PETA monster WILL kill again, if we allow it, and the next victim may be a beloved pet of the animal lover reading this right now.

PETA is to “animal rights” what the KKK was/is to “equality”

"I know you're healthy, and want to live, but I'm unhealthy and of unsound mind and want you to die, so , let's just call it a 'loving death', so that the idiots who support me will think this is somehow 'good' for you, though I'd never want someone to do to ME, what I'm gonna do to you."

The “Unwanted” Lie

There is a horrible lie that pet murdering groups/”shelters” spread around, and they know it’s a lie.

It’s the lie that says that some pets are murdered because they are “unwanted”. Nothing could be further from the truth: THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS AN “UNWANTED” PET!

Every Pet is wanted by somebody! It’s a simple issue of pet murderers not caring enough about pets, to get off their lazy, incompetent, indifferent butts, to do WHATEVER IT TAKES TO FIND A WANTED PET A GOOD, LOVING HOME.  So pet murderers figuratively stamp “unwanted” on the WANTED pet and do the expedient, effortless, cowardly, unethical, inhumane, and downright cruel thing: They murder the pet and try to excuse/hide their disgraceful act by using the “unwanted” lie.

Those who do this are scumbags who choose to be pet murdering losers, rather than pet saving heroes.

EVERY Pet is wanted by SOMEBODY!!

The Animal Wrongs Movement

An Open Letter to Ingrid Newkirk and PETA

To Ingrid Newkirk & PETA,

HOW DARE YOU claim to help animals, and turn your backs on them, by murdering them, thus taking away from them THE greatest gift they have ever been given: LIFE!

You have NO RIGHT, taking away from them, THEIR RIGHT TO LIVE long, beautiful, happy, healthy, loving lives, free from being murdered by homicidal maniacs such as yourselves!

ANIMALS WANT TO LIVE!

HOW DARE YOU project YOUR misery onto ANIMALS, WHO WANT TO LIVE!

If you want an “exit” from life, please seek medical assistance, and you can overcome your depression/hopelessness, and see the beauty of life, like animals do!

But you have NO RIGHT to rape others of THEIR lives!

ANIMALS WANT TO LIVE!  HOW DARE YOU suggest otherwise!  You are NOT speaking for animals when you spout lies from your wretched lips.

ANIMALS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES, all the time: A dog running AWAY from the dog catcher. A cat running AWAY from a growling dog in pursuit of them. Why are they running? BECAUSE THEY DON’T WANT TO BE HARMED! BECAUSE THEY DON’T WANT TO DIE!

BECAUSE THEY WANT TO LIVE!

A happy wagging of the tail….. a happy Meow to welcome a new day, because ANIMALS WANT TO LIVE!

Pets finding the most comfortable place in the house to relax and enjoy themselves. Pets running to happily enjoy their meals. Pets playing with each other and with their human animal buddies. Pets enjoying happiness from the gentle loving touch of the human who loves them and correctly considers them their SOULMATES!

PETS LOVE LIFE!

So, it’s all pretty simple: Unless you wish to enhance an animal’s life, KEEP YOUR FILTHY, LETHAL HANDS OFF OF THEM!

You have NO MORE of a right to murder a cat or dog, than a fur farm does to murder a fox, or mink.

You have NO MORE of a right to murder an animal, than a hunter does.

I find it intolerable that YOU are one of the biggest murderers of animals on Earth, while lying, by claiming to be “ethical”. Murder is NOT ethical. Never has been. Never will be. And the killing of a healthy/treatable animal, which accounts for 99% of the animals you kill…….that is MURDER!  YOU ARE UNETHICAL!

What have we learned?

  1. ANIMALS WANT TO LIVE!
  2. YOU want animals to die. What YOU want is irrelevant. Individuals are free to live, love and be loved.
  3. YOU are mass murderers of animals who WANT TO LIVE!
  4.  The vast majority of animals that you murder are HEALTHY/TREATABLE.
  5. What a deadbeat “owner” wants YOU to do to an animal does NOT matter. The ETHICAL thing to do to an animal surrendered to you by their owner is to LOVE THEM, PROTECT THEM, AND FIND THEM A LOVING FAMILY, AND THERE ARE PLENTY OF THOSE.You are so demented that you consider a “warm, loving home” to be a form of “slavery”, and you say that the act of loving pets is “cruel”. Yet, you murder FERALS, who are NOT, according to your ill-ogic, bound by the “chains” of warm loving “slavery”. So, according to your ill-ogic, pets in homes should die because they are “slaves”, and pets who don’t have homes should die because they don’t have homes! Murderers rarely grasp logic. You are no different than any other murderers in being “logically challenged”. By the way, YOU live in a HOME too! You, by your own ill-ogic must be “slaves”. Yet YOU afford yourselves the luxury of being allowed to live…..a luxury you STEAL AWAY from animals, as you STEAL AWAY their precious lives. You are diseased in mind and soul..if you have a soul…animals certainly do. Fact: ANIMALS WANT TO LIVE!

Oh, and do me a favor: STOP LYING by filling people’s heads with that “unwanted pet” lie. There are NO unwanted pets. For EVERY pet, there is someone, somewhere, who WANTS that pet.

You, like the broken status quo “shelter” system you help to devolve, only use that “unwanted pet” lie so that you can make your murder of innocents more expedient. FACT: FOR EVERY PET, THERE IS SOMEONE, SOMEWHERE, WHO WANTS THEM. You just have to care enough (which rules YOU out) to work up a sweat, and use online networking, to help connect that WANTED pet with the human who WANTS Him/Her. NSALAmerica finds pets homes that way. Best Friends Animal Society finds pets homes that way. EVERY animal lover with online access, has, at one time or another, used the world wide web to help pets find homes SUCCESSFULLY.

YOU, are the exception to the many pet lovers who find pets homes. Because you don’t WANT to find pets homes. Because you DON’T love pets. After all, it would be hard to “do away with this notion of pets altogether” (a quote from Ingrid Newkirk), and it would be downright impossible to “Neuter and kill our way to pet extinction” (another quote from Ingrid Newkirk) if you were busy SAVING pets.

No, you MURDER pets in a futile attempt to try and fulfill Newkirk’s wishes of pets becoming extinct. YOU WILL NOT SUCCEED.

In summary, your demented mass murder of animals who are healthy/treatable, is not fooling anyone.

The jig is up; Your little “we care about animals” act has been exposed for what it is: an act!

If you cared about animals, you would save them. YOU kill them instead, even though the vast majority are healthy/treatable.

Your words = meaningless.

Your actions = The truth about who you are = animal murderers.

You CANNOT defend your indefensible acts of murdering healthy/treatable animals!

You are a disgrace. And understand this, as well: Your wish to make pets extinct (or, in the words of Ingrid Newkirk, to “do away with this notion of pets altogether”) WILL NOT HAPPEN.

Pets/pet lovers will exist long after your sorry charade for an “animal advocacy” group has blown away in the wind, back into the nothingness from which you came.

The notion of “PETA” is what WILL be done away with.

You, the cancer that is “PETA”, will be the only ones going extinct.

Because the love that pets/pet lovers share is what will cure the world of your cancerous existence.

On Behalf Of,

Pets and Pet Lovers Everywhere

Pet Lovers Unite! Make YOUR No Kill Declaration!

Pet lovers are tired of healthy/treatable pets being murdered in "shelters". IT MUST STOP! Pets Are Family! Stop killing our family members!

Pet lovers are tired of healthy/treatable pets being murdered in “shelters”. IT MUST STOP! Pets Are Family! Stop killing our family members!

This year, some four million animals will be killed in shelters. The vast majority can and should be placed into loving homes or should never enter shelters in the first place. But there is hope.

No Kill sheltering models, based on innovative, non-lethal programs and services, have already saved the lives of tens of thousands of animals. But instead of embracing No Kill, many shelters—and their national agency allies—cling to their failed models of the past, models that result in the killing of millions of animals in U.S. shelters every year.

No Kill is a revolution. And behind every revolution is a declaration—a statement of grievances, and a listing of rights and principles that underscore our great hope for the future. We assert that a No Kill nation is within our reach—that the killing can and should be brought to an end. Join us in endorsing The Declaration of the No Kill Movement in the United States.

It is open to every individual, every group, and every agency that wants to bring about an end to the killing by implementing the programs and services that will establish a No Kill nation. Programs like allowing rescue groups to save animals on death row and offsite adoption events. These are not radical concepts, but in the current sheltering world, one can be ostracized for daring to proclaim the simple truths that population control killing is not an act of kindness and that free-living animals have a right to live.

Join us in speaking for those who can’t. In the length of time it will take you to read the Declaration, nearly one hundred animals will be needlessly killed.

I. Preamble

One hundred and fifty years ago, societies for the prevention of cruelty to animals and other humane organizations were founded to establish standards for humane treatment of animals, to promote their rights, and to protect them from harm. This marked the formal beginning of the humane movement in the United States.

The scope and influence of these early humane organizations were testament to the public’s concern for animals. It did not take long for them to set their sights on the abuse of homeless animals and cruel methods of killing by public pounds. It was common practice at the time for city and town dogcatchers to beat, drown, or shoot homeless animals.

Many humane agencies responded by entering into animal control contracts with towns and cities to ensure that the killing was done more humanely. But in taking on municipal animal control duties, these agencies abandoned their lifesaving and life-enhancing platforms when those beliefs conflicted with their contractual responsibilities. In the current era, where laws require killing by even more “humane” methods, these contradictions have become starker.

Increasingly, the practices of both humane societies and municipal animal control agencies are out of step with public sentiment. Today, most Americans hold the humane treatment of animals as a personal value, which is reflected in our laws, cultural practices, the proliferation of organizations founded for animal protection, increased per capita spending on animal care, and great advancements in veterinary medicine. But the agencies that the public expects to protect animals are instead killing some four million animals annually.

Lifesaving alternatives to the mass killing of animals in shelters have existed for decades.These lifesaving methods are based on innovative, humane, nonlethal programs and services that have proven that the killing can be brought to an end. Too many of these agencies, however, remain mired in the kill philosophies of the past, unwilling to or hampered from exploring and adopting methods that save lives. This is a breach of their public trust, a gross deviation from their responsibility to protect animals, and a point of view that we, as caring people and a humane community, can no longer accept or tolerate.

We assert that a No Kill nation is within our reach—that the killing can and must be brought to an end. It is up to each of us working individually and together to implement sheltering models that have already saved tens of thousands of animals in progressive communities. If we work together—with certainty of purpose, assured of our own success, with the commitment that “what must be done, will be done”—the attainment of our goals will not be far off.

II. No Kill Resolution

Whereas, the right to live is every animal’s most basic and fundamental right;

Whereas, societies for the prevention of cruelty to animals and other humane organizations were founded to establish standards for humane treatment of animals, to promote their rights, and to protect them from harm;

Whereas, traditional sheltering practices allow the mass killing of sheltered animals;

Whereas, every year shelters in the United States are killing millions of animals who could be saved, and are also killing millions of free-living animals who do not belong in shelters;

Whereas, life always takes precedence over expediency;

Whereas, the No Kill movement in the United States has successfully implemented new and innovative programs that provide alternatives to mass killing;

Whereas, lifesaving change will come about only if No Kill programs are embraced and further developed;

Whereas, failure to implement No Kill programs constitutes a breach of the public’s trust in the sheltering community;

Now, therefore, be it resolved that No Kill policies and procedures are the only legitimate foundation for animal sheltering; and,

It is incumbent upon all shelters and animal groups to embrace the philosophy of No Kill, to immediately begin implementing programs and services that will end the mass killing of sheltered animals, and to reject the failed kill-oriented practices of the past.

III. Statement of Rights

We acknowledge the following:

  • Sheltered animals have a right to live;
  • Free-living animals have a right to their lives and their habitats;
  • Animals, rescuers, and the public have a right to expect animal protection organizations and animal shelters to do everything in their power to promote, protect, and advocate for the lives of animals;
  • Animal protection groups, rescue groups, and No Kill shelters have a right to take into their custody animals who would otherwise be killed by animal shelters;
  • Taxpayers and community members have a right to have their government spend tax monies on programs and services whose purpose is to save and enhance the lives of all animals;
  • Taxpayers and community members have a right to full and complete disclosure about how animal shelters operate.

IV. Guiding Principles

No Kill is achieved only by guaranteeing the following:

  • Life to all healthy animals, and to all sick, injured or traumatized animals where medical or behavioral intervention would alter a poor or grave prognosis;
  • The right of sanctuary for aggressive dogs where behavior intervention cannot alter a poor or grave prognosis;
  • The right of free-living animals to live in their habitats;

These conditions can be achieved only through adherence to the following:

  • Shelters and humane groups end the killing of savable animals;
  • Every animal in a shelter receives individual consideration, regardless of how many animals a shelter takes in, or whether such animals are healthy, underaged, elderly, sick, injured, traumatized, or not social with humans;
  • Shelters and humane organizations discontinue the use of language that misleads the public and glosses over the nature of their actions, such as “euthanasia,” “unadoptable,” “fractious,” “putting them to sleep,” and other euphemisms that downplay the gravity of ending life and make the task of killing easier;
  • Shelters are open to the public during hours that permit working people to reclaim or adopt animals during nonworking hours;
  • Public shelters work with humane animal adoption organizations to the fullest extent to promote the adoption of animals and to reduce the rate of killing;
  • Shelters provide care and treatment for all animals in shelters to the extent necessary, including prompt veterinary care, adequate nutrition, shelter, exercise, and socialization;
  • Shelters are held accountable for and make information publicly available about all the animals in their care.

V. No Kill Standards

The implementation of these lifesaving procedures, policies, and programs must be the immediate goal of every shelter, and animal control and animal welfare agency:

  • Formal, active commitment by shelter directors, management, and staff to lifesaving programs and policies, and dedication to promptly ending mass killing of shelter animals;
  • Immediate implementation of the following programs by all publicly funded or subsidized animal shelters:
    • A foster care network for underaged, traumatized, sick, injured, or other animals needing refuge before any sheltered animal is killed, unless the prognosis for rehabilitation of that individual animal is poor or grave;
    • Comprehensive adoption programs that operate during weekend and evening hours and include offsite adoption venues;
    • Medical and behavioral rehabilitation programs;
    • Pet retention programs to solve medical, environmental, or behavioral problems and keep animals with their caring and responsible caregivers;
    • Programs to release free-living animals back to their habitats;
    • Rescue group right of access to shelter animals;
    • Volunteer programs to socialize animals, promote adoptions, and help in the operations of the shelter;
    • Documentation that all efforts to save an animal have been considered, including medical and behavioral rehabilitation, foster care, rescue groups, re-release, and adoption.
  • An end to the policy of accepting trapped free-living animals to be destroyed as unadoptable, and implementation of re-release programs;
  • Abolishment of trapping, lending traps to the public to capture animals, and support of trapping by shelters, governments, and pest control companies for the purposes of removing animals to be killed;
  • An end to “owner”-requested killing of animals unless the shelter has made an independent determination that the animal is irremediably suffering;
  • The repeal of unenforceable and counter-productive animal control ordinances such as cat licensing and leash laws, pet limit laws, bans on feeding stray animals, and bans on specific breeds.

I Challenge PETA Members/Supporters to Answer This Question, Going By The Rules

THE QUESTION:  If PETA told you “Come visit us tomorrow and we’ll give you a ‘loving death'”, would you do it?

THE RULES: One word answer (Either “YES” or “NO”) only.

After answering the question for YOURSELF, scroll down, below the t-shirt graphic….

RESCUE the mistreated......SAVE the injured......LOVE the abandoned....THAT is what TRUE animal lovers do...

RESCUE the mistreated……SAVE the injured……LOVE the abandoned….THAT is what TRUE animal lovers do…

If you answered “YES”, you are a liar.

If you answered “NO”, you are a hypocrite for doing to others, or supporting something being done to others, what you would NEVER want done to YOU!!

Either way, it’s time to rethink your life. You have more potential than to settle for a life of homicidal madness. You can make a POSITIVE change in the world, by SAVING, not murdering others, and by advocating that others be SAVED, not murdered.

ALL are EQUAL. ALL are SOULS. ALL are ONE.

Live, Let Live.

Love, Let Love.

Be Loved. Let Others Be Loved.

This is the pure, correct, Universal Law of Ethics

What True Animal Lovers Do

Does PETA, HSUS, ASPCA, Kill “Shelters”, etc. “love” animals?

Seeing as how they ALL OPPOSE life saving legislation, the answer is NO.

Oh, they *say* “this” and they *say* “that”, but it’s what you DO that determines whether you love someone or not.

PETA, HSUS, ASPCA, Kill “Shelters”, etc. cant even do the most basic things that love requires.

Whereas the unethical PETA, the inhumane Society of the U.S., the cruel ASPCA, and sad, fraudulent excuses for animal “shelters” ALL MURDER healthy/treatable animals, we can answer the question of “Do they love animals?” with a definitive “NO!”

If they “loved” animals, they wouldn’t murder those who are healthy/treatable. If they “loved” animals, they would SUPPORT legislation to save animals’ precious lives.

Love doesn’t kill. It only loves.

PETA, HSUS, ASPCA and Kill “Shelters” can’t claim the same.

TRUE Animal lovers live by THIS motto:

RESCUE the mistreated......SAVE the injured......LOVE the abandoned....THAT is what TRUE animal lovers do...

RESCUE the mistreated……SAVE the injured……LOVE the abandoned….THAT is what TRUE animal lovers do…

No Kill in a Nutshell: All You Need To Know & Do To Make YOUR Community No Kill

No Kill in a Nutshell: All You Need To Know & Do To Make YOUR Community No Kill.

Shelter: To protect from harm, to provide refuge, a safe haven

The first time many animals experience neglect and abuse is at the very shelter that is supposed to protect them from it. Our shelters are in crisis. Why? Killing is an act of violence. And not only do people in shelters work at a very place that commits this violence, they have, in fact, been hired to do exactly that. Can we really be surprised when they don’t clean thoroughly, don’t feed the animals, handle them too roughly, neglect and abuse them, or simply ignore their cries for help? How does shoddy cleaning or rough handling or skipping meals compare with putting an animal to death? Because shelter workers understand that they have the power to kill each and every one of these animals, and will in fact kill most of them, every interaction they have with those animals is influenced by the reality that their lives do not matter, that their lives are cheap and expendable, and that they are destined for the garbage heap. Where there is no right to life; there is no regard for welfare.

Murder and cruelty go hand in hand. In fact, murdering a healthy living soul IS a form of cruelty….it’s the worst form of cruelty in fact, because it’s the only form of cruelty where the animal has ZERO chance of healing.

Fact: Murdering healthy, adoptable pets is NOT “humane”, and it is NOT “kind”. It is CRUEL, and it is WRONG.

We treat pets as though we were omniscient gods‚ lying by deluding others into believing that death is our loving “gift” to them. We have no right to condemn healthy companion animals based on our limited understanding of their realities, as our mission should be exactly the same as children’s advocates: Establish more temporary safe havens, find additional permanent homes, and, most importantly, develop programs that reduce the number of homeless. Do countless children suffer for many years trapped in overcrowded and substandard orphanages?
Of course, as do refugees and millions upon millions of other displaced people, and this suffering is a horrendous tragedy. However, compassionate people seek to remedy these problems through addressing the fundamental causes, not killing the victims.

Killing is done by the uncivilized. By the weak-minded. By the cruel. By murderous NON animal lovers. For love doesn’t kill. It loves, protects, and enhances life.

Saving lives is done by those truly evolved enough to know that a cat’s life means equally as much to Him/Her, that a human animal’s life means to them!

It’s time to get over ourselves. We humans do not have the patent on life. We are but one of millions of species of animals on Earth, (most of whom were here long before us) and we are no more, and no less, deserving of rights, and of life, than anybody else.

To pretend otherwise, is to live a lethal fantasy.

True animal lovers choose to live a compassionate reality.

True animal lovers know that, like humans, our fellow animals are living, breathing, thinking, feeling, loving, soul filled Children of God, equally as much as anybody else.

And as such, animals, including pets, deserve the same Three Universal Birthrights, that everyone else does:

1. The Right to Live.
2. The Right to Love.
3. The Right to Be Loved.

What you have read is The Ultimate Truth…………the ignorance, arrogance and Speciesism of kill “shelters”, PETA, the HSUS, the ASPCA and other pet murdering frauds, notwithstanding.

All Are One. One Is All.

Please, make your community a No Kill community. Be brave. And know that you are on the side of right. Take action. Pets need YOU.

Our Pets are being murdered by the millions every year, in poor excuses for animal “shelters”. There ARE life saving alternatives (see below), but kill “shelter” operators are used to the status quo of killing pets, rather than saving them. YOU can help change that, by checking out the links below, and then demanding that your local “shelter” officials, Mayor, Governor, City Council Members, State Representatives, City Representatives, State Legislators, City Legislators, Senators, etc. actively fight to stop this disgusting massacre of our four legged family members. Ignite your passion into an eternal flame. Fight the good fight. Fight for Pets’ Rights! Thank you.

PETA ARE AGAINST THE VERY IDEA OF HAVING PETS. They are on record as saying that they would love for pets to go extinct.

Thus, the answer to WHY PETA murders Pets has been answered: You cant make someone extinct, if you go around caring for them, loving them, and yes, even SAVING THEM, now can you? No, only by MURDER, can you try (unsuccessfully) to exterminate entire species.

Little do they know, they, PETA, are going to become extinct loooooooooooooooooooooooooooong before pets ever do, because the love, the bond between…

“My life matters equally as much as yours. Respect me and my right to live, if you want others to respect you and your right to live.”

The Smithsonian, long thought to be a dignified institution, are nothing more than politicians who twist “science” into garbage (you know it as “junk science”) that is not based in scientific data, but is instead based in biased agendas, rooted in ignorance and arrogance.

Please sign Alley Cat Allies’ petition, telling the Smithsonian to stop using junk science in their cat hating agendas, and to instead admit the truth: HUMANS, such as those at the Smithsonian, are the #1 cause of wildlife decimation and extinction.

WE, the members of the human animal species, always want a “patsy” to blame, for the damage WE do.

Cats will NOT be the patsies of junk science junkies…because, once again, HUMANS are the main cause of wildlife decimation and extinction.

Tell the Smithsonian members to look in the mirror for the cause of wildlife decimation and extinction.

Thank you

Speciesism: The ROOT of All Forms of Killing Animals

ALL are EQUAL. ALL are SOULS. ALL are ONE.

Speciesism: The (Incorrect) Belief in the Inherent Superiority of One Species Over Another.

Speciesism, like racism, and sexism before it, is an ignorant, arrogant, and yes indeed, LETHAL form of prejudice.

Once we, the members of the human animal species (ever attend biology class? We humans are HIGHER PRIMATES….MAMMALS….ANIMALS too!) realize that our fellow animals are our EQUALS, in Soul, in Life, in Love, in Heaven, in God’s eyes, and in every other way, then, and only then will society as a whole, begin to value EVERYONE!

Then and only then will our fellow animals be given individual RIGHTS, like we have been afforded (basically because HUMANS make the laws that protect individual rights, and as usual, humans think of themselves first and their fellow animals, second, which is due to Speciesism)

Regardless of their public relations departments, PETA, HSUS, ASPCA, are no different than factory farms, fur farms, etc..

PETA, HSUS, ASPCA are also speciesists. They also murder innocent animals, because they also suffer delusions of human grandeur, which allows them to wrongly believe that they have a right to play God with others’ lives.

Whether PETA, Factory farms, HSUS, Fur farms, ASPCA or Puppy Mills, they all operate the same way: THEY MANIPULATE ANIMALS, AND DECIDE THE FATES OF THE ANIMALS (USUALLY, A LETHAL FATE) THEY MANIPULATE. THEY ALL THINK THEY ARE OMNISCIENT GODS, WHO HAVE A RIGHT TO CHOOSE THE FATE OF THEIR FELLOW LIVING SOULS. THAT, my friends is SPECIESISM.

Hitler did the same thing to Jews, only he was driven by racism.

Jack The Ripper did the same to prostitutes, only he was driven by sexism.

The murderers of animals (PETA, Fur farms, HSUS, Factory Farms, ASPCA, Puppy Mills, Kill “Shelters”, etc) are driven by speciesism.

You dont read about children’s shelters murdering children. You dont read about homeless shelters murdering the homeless. You dont read about domestic abuse shelters murdering the victims of domestic abuse. Why? Because these places are REAL shelters, who REVERE, LOVE, VALUE, and consider every individual Soul who they come across, as their EQUALS.

Yet we have these pathetic frauds in the “Animal Rights (More like Animal Wrongs) Movement” telling us that “shelters” murdering shelter pets is a “GOOD thing”?

Let’s stop the hypocritical, speciesist madness, shall we?

Enough nonsense.

The reason why animal murderers like PETA, Fur farms, Kill “Shelters” etc., murder animals is because they believe that they are SUPERIOR to their fellow animals. Otherwise, THEY WOULDN’T MURDER THEM.

POP!, Goes the Ego!

We humans are NOT superior to our fellow animals. Those who THINK they are, are living proof of their own ignorant, arrogant, speciesism.

We Are All One

Animals, like the human animal, are living, breathing, feeling, loving, Soul-filled Children of God. We are all in this together.

We all get tired, we all get wet in the rain.

We all experience loneliness, we all experience pain.

We all thirst for water, and we all thirst for love.

We are all Children of God, Who’s Angels watch over us from high up above.

We all breathe, we all play, we all feel.

We all get hungry and we all appreciate a satisfying meal.

We are all born, and we all deserve to live life.

No one should be subjected to a murderer’s deadly needle or a dissecter’s deadly knife.

We all die, and we are all born into everlasting love and life in Heaven…. in paradise.

Where, as one spiritual family, we all share love, and we all get treated nice.

In Heaven, we all gather together, one species, one race, one religion, and all of us have lots of fun.

In Heaven, we all realize, that we all are really ONE.

We are all one.

One life.

One Soul.

One Spiritual Family.

ONE

The Animal Wrongs Movement

Sounds nice, doesn’t it? The “Animal Rights Movement”.

It certainly sells. Some so called “animal rights” groups are some of the wealthiest charities in the nation.

There’s just one ginormously inconvenient problem with these “animal rights” groups that animal lovers MUST know about: They are NOT groups that promote “animal rights”, and they certainly dont DO right by animals. They are, in fact, businessmen/woman in “Animal Rights” t-shirts….wolves in sheep’s clothing if you will. If judged, not by their talented, creative, public relations departments, but instead, if judged by what THEY ACTUALLY DO, these groups are the POLAR OPPOSITE of “animal rights” groups. They are, in reality, “ANIMAL WRONGS” GROUPS.

The groups of which I am referring to, are what I call “The Trio of Traitors” (The UNethical PETA, The INhumane HSUS, and the CRUEL ASPCA). I call them this, because they are three groups who, quite opposite from SUPPORTING laws that would bestow upon animals, RIGHTS to protect them from harm, these traitors actually OPPOSE Rights being given to animals, and there are key reasons why:

These groups do NOT, EVER, promote animals’ rights to live, because these groups SUPPORT the mass murder of shelter pets! You read that right…… these groups SUPPORT the murder of pets (while calling it a “loving death”, even though the animals are HEALTHY/TREATABLE/ADOPTABLE, and killing them is the opposite of what someone who loved them would do).

You CANNOT get away with murdering animals if there ARE Rights and Laws in place to protect animals from murder, now can you?

This is why you NEVER see these traitors carrying signs, protesting in support of an animal’s right to live. In fact, these traitors ALWAYS OPPOSE legislation that would have (had these groups not used money and influence to KILL the legislation…and animals right along with it) saved MILLIONS of precious lives.

I think we can all agree, that if you rally AGAINST someone’s right to live, you cannot call yourselves an “advocate” of the individual(s) for whom’s murder you are SUPPORTING.

One of these traitors, the UNethical PETA have ADMITTED that they dont believe in animal rights. PETA’s absurdly ILL-ogical ‘leader’, Ingrid Newkirk wrote, “We (PETA) do not advocate for ‘Right To Life’ for animals”. In plain english, PETA are stating that THEY DO NOT BELIEVE THAT ANIMALS HAVE A RIGHT TO LIVE!

Here’s the problem: If you DO NOT believe in someone’s most basic and necessary Universal RIGHT (their Right to live) then you DO NOT believe in them being granted ANY Rights, because without the Right to LIVE, all other Rights are meaningless and cannot be enjoyed.

How does a murdered individual enjoy, for example, the Right to play, if they have been murdered and thus CANNOT play? They cant. They dont. Because the most basic and necessary Right, the one that permits any and all other rights to be enjoyed, is the RIGHT TO LIVE.

So, by NOT advocating for an animal’s right to LIVE, PETA does NOT advocate in favor of ANY Rights for animals, and thus PETA are NOT an “animal rights” group.

The Second traitor, the INhumane Society of the United States (HSUS) is notorious for using political influence and MONETARY influence (from their SUPPORTERS’ pockets, not their own) for regularly killing life saving legislation, and thus bearing their share of responsibility for the killings of 4 -5 MILLION “shelter” pets every year.

BY OPPOSING life saving legislation, the HSUS (‘Humane’ Society of the United States) OPPOSE animals’ Rights to live, and thus, the HSUS OPPOSES any and all other Rights for animals, because, once again, if an animal does not have the RIGHT TO LIVE, they CANNOT enjoy any other Right, because without the Right to live, these precious animals can be murdered using the lie called “humane euthanasia”. Or by citing another lie – the ‘pet overpopulation’ lie. The HSUS has ADMITTED that ‘pet overpopulation’ is a myth, yet they STILL CITE IT, WHEN MURDERING PETS! Thus, the HSUS ARE NOT an “animal rights” group.

The Third traitor, the ASPCA, who are SUPPOSED to PREVENT CRUELTY, actually ENGAGE IN CRUELTY by regularly betraying animals by also OPPOSING life saving legislation. NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING, is more cruel than to look a fellow living soul in the eyes, and say “I dont believe that you are worthy of life” and then proceeding to murder that fellow living soul. You, my dear readers, would AGREE 100% with everything that I am saying if YOU were the one about to be murdered, after being told that YOUR life wasn’t worth saving. You know it and I know it. Yet this is precisely what the CRUEL ASPCA, the INhumane HSUS and the UNethical PETA all do to animals!!

Thus, the ASPCA are NOT an “animal rights” group, anymore than PETA or the HSUS are. The ASPCA also OPPOSES life saving legislation, and thus, do NOT believe in “animal rights”.

Some may be wondering…WHY? WHY do these frauds *claim* to care about animals, while killing them?

The answer – Speciesism: http://www.all-creatures.org/aip/nl-20090408-1.html

Ironic? Yes. Sad? Yes. But, most importantly, this is all TRUE.

It is documented, it has been proven. It is irrefutable. It is reality.

The sooner animal lovers educate themselves and each other, about this inconvenient truth, the sooner we can “root out the weeds” from the “animal rights” movement. Until then, the “animal rights” movement, should be called what it ACTUALLY is: The Animal WRONGS movement, because the Trio Of Traitors (PETA, HSUS, ASPCA), all do WRONG by animals, and all OPPOSE “animal rights”. THAT is why scum who operate kill “shelters” are allowed to murder HEALTHY/TREATABLE/ADOPTABLE pets! Because they are ALLOWED TO DO SO, because the Trio Of Traitors ALSO MURDER PETS, and thus are NEVER going to SUPPORT legislation that would make the murder of healthy pets illegal. So WE, the GENUINE Animal Rights advocates, must get these laws enacted ourselves.

WE can do so by letting our elected officials know that when we vote, we are not just entrusting these politicians with the power to serve OUR well being, but the well being of our whole family which includes PETS!

If we let politicians know that we REFUSE to tolerate the mass murder of pets in “shelters”, and that we WILL ONLY VOTE FOR PET FRIENDLY POLITICIANS, trust me, the number of pet loving politicians in the nation will skyrocket.

Further, we need to get these discussions off the internet and INTO THE COURTROOM, where they can actually CHANGE things.

It is time to finally put the RIGHTS into the “Animal Rights” Movement.

Love animals and want to help save lives?

Here’s what you need to know, and do to stop the madness…to stop the murder of our equals…our four legged family members…our pets! (See “Life Saving Resources” Below).

And once we get laws enacted to protect our pets, our chances of getting laws in place to protect other animals, such as farm animals, animals in the fur industry, etc will improve.

One last important thing: If you want a nice green lawn to grow unimpeded, you have to ged rid of the weeds. If you want to successfully SAVE animals, you must combat those who want to KILL animals (PETA, HSUS, ASPCA). If we are to SUCCEED in saving animals, we must ensure the FAILURE of the Trio Of Traitors (PETA, HSUS, ASPCA). The only way to do that: Hit ’em where it hurts-in the pocketbook. STOP DONATING TO ANIMAL MURDERERS, AND THE ANIMAL MURDER RATE WILL DROP! Pure common sense!

There is a reason why these groups OPPOSE saving animals, but want you to THINK that they support helping animals: DONATIONS. Money. Moolah. Bread. Greenbacks. Dough. Cash. THAT is why these animal murderers put photos of sad animals on their website, with a DONATION BUTTON RIGHT BELOW IT! These leeches like to suck every dollar they can out of good hearted animal lovers, so they show you the sad animal, and BOOM…you heart wrenches, and you want to take the animal’s sadness away and give them a good life. BOOM, then you notice the DONATE NOW button, as a reflex of your desire to make the lives of animals better. BUT REMEMBER – As proven in this post, DONATING TO PETA, HSUS, ASPCA WILL RESULT IN MORE ANIMALS BEING MURDERED. We DON’T want that.

What we DO want is for animals to LIVE. So WE MUST STOP FUNDING THOSE WHO KILL ANIMALS!

World’s First and Largest No Kill Shelter: NSAL America

We are the world’s largest no-kill animal rescue and adoption organization

Tell The VDACS To Revoke PETA’s “Shelter” License

We need YOUR voice! If you love animals, PLEASE SEND THE EMAILS (See Below) TO STOP PETA FROM MURDERING THEM!

Nathan Winograd Writes:

“The Virginia Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services (VDACS) refuses to pull PETA’s “shelter” license. It chose to fine it $500 (for STEALING AND KILLING A FAMILY’S DOG), a mere fraction of the $52 million it took in last year. Despite calls for investigations by state senators, county attorneys, national organizations, and the Virginia Federation of Humane Societies which believes PETA to be operating to “the detriment of animals in the Commonwealth;” despite violating the law, lying to people, stealing pets, and killing them; despite the Virginia legislature and governor speaking with one, nearly unanimous, voice that they want PETA’s killing to stop, PETA continues operating as before, killing thousands of defenseless animals with virtual impunity.

Ironically, it is the very double standard between humans and non-humans that most people erroneously believe PETA exists to overcome that has allowed PETA to get away with the harms they have inflicted. And it is the false perception that they exist to protect, rather than imperil animals (which is what they actually do) which causes reluctance on the part of public officials tasked with oversight.

So while I celebrate SB 1381’s passage for all it does mean, and I am immensely grateful to Senator Bill Stanley who introduced this bill, to all the legislators who voted for it, and to the Governor who signed it, and while I understand that as we move the pieces on the chess board, we get closer and closer to checkmating PETA out of the killing business, let’s understand where the challenge now lies: with Virginia law enforcement agencies, most notably VDACS. We must realize that getting VDACS to enforce it will likely involve an additional fight and potentially, litigation. Already, VDACS is stalling, claiming—in typically bureaucratic fashion—that it may take two years to issue regulations for SB 1381. And even as PETA now claims it “has always operated to find adoptive homes and will continue to do so as stated in Senate Bill 1381” in direct contravention of all their prior statements and actions before SB 1381 and which begs the question, “why fight it then?”, my faith that VDACS will do the right thing and honor the intent and desire of the people of the Commonwealth, as they spoke in near unanimity through their elected representatives, could hardly be more lacking. The leadership and staff at VDACS has so far proven itself to be typically bureaucratic, tragically indifferent, fundamentally uncaring, and as is so typical of oversight agencies, willing to overlook PETA’s criminal conduct by bending over backward for the entity they are supposed to be regulating.

While VDACS sits on its hands for the next two years, an additional 4,500 animals will be needlessly butchered at the behest of Ingrid Newkirk’s dark and disturbing impulses and the families of the animals they round up and kill across Norfolk and surrounding areas will be left heartbroken. We must not allow PETA to get away with murder.”

What You Can Do:

Don’t let VDACS continue to get away with turning a blind eye and foot dragging. Please send a polite, but emphatic, email to both Sandra Adams, the Commissioner of Agriculture, and to Dr. Carolynn Bissett, the State Veterinarian, that you expect them to do their jobs and honor the intent of the legislature and the will of the people. And while you are at it, tell them that we should not have to wait two years for VDACS to act while PETA kills an additional 4,500 animals.

Gas Chambers We Love, by HSUS

YesBiscuit!

The Davidson Co pound in NC sells dogs for $95 and cats for $75.  But they don’t sell any dog they deem a Pitbull or a Pitbull mix.  And they don’t sell too many other pets either.

In 2010, the pound killed 88% of its pets.  Statistics haven’t been released yet for 2011 but supposedly the pound is killing less animals now than in past.  Still, this unknown-kill-rate-that-is-supposedly-less-than-88-freaking-percent represents thousands of animals being stuffed into the gas chamber each year at the Davidson Co pound, often illegally and sometimes sadistically.

Who would LOVE this “shelter”?  Why HSUS, natch:

The Davidson County Animal Shelter in Lexington has received an award from the Humane Society of the United States and the N.C. Voters for Animal Welfare[.]

The shelter was one of four in North Carolina to receive a “Shelter We Love” award from the two groups in a ceremony…

Don’t Make Us Sic HSUS on You

The Halifax Co pound in NC is a catch and kill facility that is not open to the public for adoptions.  A well intentioned but obviously misinformed pet advocate recently wrote to the county in an attempt to get them to open their doors to adopters:

A recent email from N.C. Advocate Jane Tzilvelis, of N.C. Abandoned and Homeless State Pets, threatened the county with consequences from the Humane Society of the United States.

“Perhaps, after the HSUS puts your shelter on the map to the public, you will consider allowing North Carolina taxpayers entrance into the Halifax County Animal Shelter,” she said in the email. “I heard you are the next shelter project on the HSUS list.”

I commend the effort to hold the county accountable for its failures on behalf of the community pets in Halifax Co but let’s be clear:  HSUS has never brought meaningful reform to…

HSUS Top Ten List Not So Funny

YesBiscuit!

The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) issued a press release last week announcing its top ten “emergency placement partners” for 2011.  Topping the list is the Guilford Co pound in NC, operated by United Animal Coalition:

“Guilford County Animal Shelter has consistently gone above and beyond the call of duty to come to the aid of animals in need,” said Michelle Cascio, manager of the Emergency Placement Program for The HSUS.

In 2010, Guilford Co had a 42% kill rate.  The pound has a policy dictating death for all Rottweilers, Pitbulls and Chows, regardless of health or temperament.  Apparently the HSUS standards for going “above and beyond the call of duty” are substantially lower than normal people’s.

Also making the list was the Nashville Humane Association which readers here will recall dodged and weaved and ducked and covered when we repeatedly sought answers about what happened to…

No Kill Animal Shelters – Know The Facts, Disregard The Myths

SiameseCatTwins4Ever

Myth: No Kill is too expensive. Our community cannot afford it.

Fact: No Kill is cost-effective, fiscally responsible, and a great economic boon to local communities. Municipalities who want to enact good policy and improve the local economy should invest in lifesaving at their local shelter. Given the cost savings and additional revenues of doing so (reduced costs associated with killing, enhanced community support, an increase in adoption revenues and other user fees, and additional tax revenues), as well as the community economic impact of adoptions, a community cannot afford not to embrace No Kill.

Analysis: http://bit.ly/H8hfc1

Myth: Open admission shelters can’t be No Kill.

Fact: A No Kill shelter can be either “limited admission” or “open admission.” No Kill only means that no savable animals are put to death, roughly 95% of all intakes. And there are plenty of No Kill animal control shelters and thus No Kill communities…

Our Eyes on the Real Prize: Reaching Higher and Why I Now Disown My Progeny, the 90% Rule

The City of Irvine’s shelter in California saves 91% of the animals. For people living in communities that kill that percentage, it must sound like nirvana. And there is no question that with shelters in this country killing roughly 40% of animals on average, many killing twice that percentage, and some killing over 90%, the City of Irvine is a better shelter than many, if not most. But is it nirvana for the animals? It is not. Is it No Kill? No.

Rescuers and employees at that shelter have recently come forward and documented abuse and killing of savable animals, including a veterinarian who referred to himself as “Dr. Death.” Why does he call himself that? Because he apparently admits he enjoys killing animals—animals who have adopters waiting, animals…

Animal Sheltering in the Words of Those Who Don’t and Those Who Do

YesBiscuit!

No kill is not real, in the words of killing apologists:

“[P]lease don’t believe that no kill shelters work.  They simply do not.” – Ed Smith, ACO Humane Society of Carroll Co in MD

“When you have a no-kill shelter, someone else is going to have to kill.” – Connie Kondravy, co-founder Organization for Responsible Care of Animals in PA

Compare to the words of people who were there when their shelters stopped killing pets:

“When I hear someone deny that No Kill communities are possible, I think of a shelter in upstate New York, a place where one day it looked sickeningly hopeless, and the next day everything changed.” – Valerie Hayes, former volunteer at Tompkins Co SPCA in NY

I never knew how big of a change we could make, I just kept thinking, if we can save one scared kitten just by holding it…

Staff at Texas Pound Chucks Donations into the Dumpster

YesBiscuit!

The Montgomery Co pound in Texas has a sign taped on the front door asking the public for donations of towels, blankets, quilts, puppy pads, pet food and various other items typically requested as donations by shelters.  We’ve all heard this one before:  municipal shelters are underfunded and the staff is forced to kill animals because of the irresponsible public and blah.

Well in Montgomery Co, the irresponsible public kindly donated many of the requested items on the pound’s list.  And the staff threw the donations into the dumpster.  Volunteers had to dumpster dive in order to retrieve the brand new pet beds, food, puppy pads and other donations.

St Johns Co Oops-Kills Beloved Lost Cat Upon Intake

YesBiscuit!

Tails having a birthday with his boy, as shown on the News4Jax website. Tails having a birthday with his boy, as shown on the News4Jax website.

A neutered and declawed indoor cat named Tails became lost last week while the owners were having work done inside their Florida home.  Owner Chelsea Santoro began putting up Lost Cat posters around the neighborhood.  Unbeknownst to anyone, Tails had climbed into the engine compartment of a neighbor’s rental car.  Miraculously, Tails was unharmed despite riding on the engine for 12 miles while the neighbor returned the car to the rental agency. A worker there found the cat.

Before anyone knew who Tails belonged to, and believing the St Johns Co pound was the safest place to bring the pet so that he could be reunited with his owner, an employee at the rental car company contacted AC to turn Tails over.  Once the company connected the dots and determined Ms. Santoro was the owner, they let her know the good…

Owned Cat Trapped by Police, Taken to Cat Killing Facility

YesBiscuit!

The most recent yearly report posted for Baldwin Co Animal Control facility in Alabama is 2012.  That year, the county took in 2526 cats, killing 2304 of them – a kill rate of 91% for cats.  Clearly killing is the default for cats at the Baldwin Co pound and it is a rare event for any cat to leave the facility outside of a garbage bag.

Kiki, as pictured on al.com. Kiki, as pictured on al.com.

Tragically, as if there aren’t enough cats already being killed at the facility, the Foley police department traps cats upon request and takes them to the Baldwin Co pound.

Foley pet owner Diana Rohe thought her 10 year old cat named Kiki had gotten lost in January.  She searched the neighborhood for weeks and offered a $1000 reward for Kiki, whom she had rescued as a kitten.  It turns out, Ms. Rohe’s neighbor had complained to the Foley…

MO Shelter: Rescues Down, Adoptions Sluggish, Killings Up, Director “Happy”

The city of Chillicothe, MO contracts the Livingston Co Humane Society (LCHS) for animal control services.  LCHS manages the Forest O. Triplett Memorial Animal Shelter, aka the Chillicothe Animal Shelter, which is run by Lesley Patek.

In 2014, the number of dogs and cats transferred from the Chillicothe shelter to rescue groups dropped markedly from the previous year:

In 2013, 276 dogs were sent to rescues, and in 2014 158 dogs went to rescues.

Rescued cats decreased from 10 to zero[.]

Adoptions remained stagnant while cat intake numbers increased.  Cat killings also increased in 2014 with Chillicothe killing 64% of its cats.  In summary, a dismal performance for the year which any shelter director should be working furiously to turn around for fear of losing her job, if nothing else.  But:

Lesley Patek, shelter guardian, said she is happy with the numbers. “I think we do an…

Know Your Rights if Animal Control is at Your Door

If someone knocks on your door and says he is an animal control officer, you won’t immediately know if he is at the wrong address, is someone impersonating an ACO or if he has legitimate cause to knock on your door.  Regardless, your response should be the same:  Do not let the person into your home unless he produces a warrant granting him entry.  If you decide you feel safe speaking to the ACO face-to-face, get your house key, a pen and paper, and secure any loose pets.  Inform the ACO you will be coming outside and politely ask him to step back from your door.  Lock the door behind you.

sb1260az Portion of SB 1260 in Arizona

SB 1260 is currently awaiting the signature of Arizona Governor Doug Ducey.  If signed into law, the bill would eliminate the mandatory holding period for cats lacking “discernable identification” who are found outdoors and brought to a county pound.  Those cats, including lost pets whose owners are looking for them and friendly, socialized cats who could be adopted, would be neutered, vaccinated, and dumped back on the street immediately after impound.

This bill serves to destroy the human-animal bond by breaking up families when owned cats get lost.  Taxpayer funded shelters are the very institutions which should be fighting to protect that bond, not trampling it.  It also endangers friendly cats who may lack the necessary skills to survive outdoors and should be adopted to a home.  The bill says eligible cats must be “living outdoors” but there is no way for a county…

Caddo Parish Killing Thousands of Pets, Blaming the Public

The main “service” provided to animals by the staff at Caddo Parish Animal Services in Louisiana is killing:

Caddo took in 8,744 dogs and cats last year and euthanized 6,805, according to data provided by the shelter.

Based on these numbers, Caddo’s kill rate for 2014 was 78%.  That is a staggering number of dead pets.  And you don’t achieve those kinds of numbers without enablers:

“The missing component is taking place out in the community where people are having puppies in the backyard. […]  More needs to be done on the community’s end. People need to be more responsible.  Until we overcome that piece we have an uphill battle to fight. We can do everything right and…

Family Believes NC Pound Illegally Killed Their Lost Cat

Burley, as pictured on the WCNC website. Burley, as pictured on the WCNC website.

The Caldwell Co pound in NC is a cat killing machine.  In 2014, the pound killed 94% of the 1448 cats it impounded.  The facility’s website states that owners can look for their lost pets on Petfinder (and emphasizes the pound staff does not want owners calling the place).  But when I clicked through to Petfinder, it said no animals were listed.  The website does have 3 cats listed as adoptable but none have photos.  They’re doing the best they can, prolly.

When the family of a lost cat named Burley found out their pet had been impounded by the Caldwell Co pound the day before Good Friday, the staff had already gone home for the long holiday weekend.  Burley’s family went to the Caldwell Co pound when it reopened on Monday to inquire about him and were shown paperwork on 5 cats – 1…

Shelter How To: Identifying Feral Cats and Reuniting Lost Cats with Owners

YesBiscuit!

Elimination of the mandatory holding periods for stray cats impounded by shelters is part of what I refer to as the war on cats.  Cats deserve the same protections as are provided to dogs at shelters, including a mandatory holding period so their owners can reclaim them.

Groups who participate in the war on cats by promoting the absurd notion that shelters should immediately dump adoptable stray cats back on the streets instead of sheltering them attempt to justify this betrayal by claiming that sheltering cats is hard work.  Granted, reuniting lost cats with their owners is hard work and identifying truly feral cats among the many scared cats at a shelter is also hard work.

I think it’s reasonable to ask how the people actually doing this hard work manage to avoid throwing up their hands and dumping all their stray cats back on the streets.  So I did.  Specifically…

Betrayal

This neanderthal/ho must pay the piper

I have always admired veterinarians, for their compassion towards animals as well as their ability and instincts to care for patients that could never tell them what was wrong or were it hurt.

Veterinarians take an oath to promote animal health and welfare and to also work to relieve animal suffering. However veterinarian Kristen Lindsey from Texas seemed to miss that part when last week she posted a picture of herself posing with the body of a dead cat. She had shot the orange tabby cat with a bow and arrow and was boasting about the kill on Facebook where she can be seen smiling with the body. The image besides inciting a great deal of anger, reminded me of how trophy hunters pose with their kills.

The image was blurred on some media but the original can be seen here

Yellowstone Co AC in Need of Reform by Way of Gasoline and a Match

The Yellowstone Co Sheriff’s Office in Montana supervises the animal control division for the county – which is not something I’d disclose on a resume or while being waterboarded, even.  Yellowstone Co’s AC is a putrid pile of slack-ass fraud designed to kill animals while putting forth the least possible amount of effort – all on the taxpayer’s dime.

John Fleming, the county ACO, picks up lost and homeless animals – that is, when he’s working, which is just 7am – 2pm Monday through Friday.  People looking for their lost pets or needing help with animals at any other hour are referred to the sheriff’s office.  This is the scam that the county has been running, reportedly for years:

Dogs are picked up by the ACO and taken to a local vet/grooming/boarding facility.  The ACO fills out some sort of DIY spreadsheet with info on each dog (where found, gender, whether the dog was…

Molding the Narrative

Tully supports PETA and thus is a supporter of PETA’s mass murder of pets. Lowlife.

mom2nomads

Yesterday I wrote an entry about Mary Tully’s blog piece about me. One of the things Ms. Tully was seeming to imply with her piece is that Douglas Anthony Cooper has, possibly, lost some faith in me. Mr. Cooper decided he needed to set the record straight on that and he wrote, in part, this:

For the record: I remain utterly convinced in Ms. Harper-Troje’s scrupulous honesty; nothing in her account strikes me as anything but rigorously accurate.

She responded to Mr. Cooper and several comments, back and forth, followed. Then, poof, they disappeared. So Mr. Cooper opened another discussion, which also seems to have disappeared.

This is the trick PETA and PETA apologists use: mold the narrative. If something doesn’t fit their version of the truth, or if the discussion has gone somewhere they don’t like because truth has been revealed, or if someone challenges them, the solution is…

PETA Employee Exposes PETA’s Mass Killing

PETA Employee Exposes PETA’s Mass Killing

Article by Nathan J. Winograd

Graphic by SiameseCatTwins4Ever

As media outlets across the country highlight PETA’s killing, as millions of animal lovers become informed of their true agenda, as the Virginia Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services (VDACS) opens an inquiry into PETA’s killing, as elected officials call for an investigation of PETA, and as the Virginia Legislature pursues a bill to stop PETA’s killing, former PETA employees are finally speaking out.

In an article released today, one of those former employees writes:

According to the VDACS, PETA took in 1,605 cats in 2014 and killed 1,536 (a kill rate of 96%). They transferred another 43 to shelters. If they were killed or displaced others who were killed, that would put the cat kill rate as high as 98%. They found homes for only 16, an adoption rate of 1%. PETA also took in 1,021 dogs of which they killed 788 (a kill rate of 77%). Another 209 were transferred to other shelters. Like the cats, if they were killed or displaced others who were killed, the dog death rate would also be as high as 98%. Only 23 were adopted. If what the former PETA staff member says is true, even these horrific numbers are too low.

The data is here: http://bit.ly/16HucHl

Although I do not know the person who wrote the article and have never spoken to her, I’ve spoken to several other PETA staff members over the last several months and the picture they draw of the inner workings of PETA are identical and equally chilling. One of them gave me the photograph posted above, reportedly taken at PETA of needles filled with sodium pentobarbital (the drug used to kill animals). It was her job to kill them.

PETA and HSUS Both OPPOSE Legislation to Save Animals!

The myth that is "pet overpopulation" has been DISPROVEN. ALL healthy/treatable Pets CAN and SHOULD be saved. No Kill is the way to save them.

Article by Nathan Winograd http://www.nathanwinograd.com

The Companion Animal Protection Act is model legislation written by my organization, the No Kill Advocacy Center, that would make it illegal to kill animals in shelters when rescue groups are willing to save them, would make it illegal to kill animals if there are empty cages and kennels, would ban the gas chamber in those states that still allow it, would require shelters to provide quality care, and would mandate that shelters make their statistics public. Similar laws in other states save tens of thousands of animals every year, have reduced killing statewide by 78%, and have cut millions of dollars in wasteful spending. Such a law is not only necessary, reasonable and an effective means of saving lives, its passage would also bring sheltering procedures more in line with the humane, progressive values of the American public.

But the large, national groups that should be championing CAPA are trying to defeat it. Time and again, these organizations behave as lobbyists not for the animals being killed, but for those killing the animals.

Florida: Legislation currently pending in Florida would end convenience killing (killing when there are empty cages or rescue groups are willing to save them), it would end retribution killing (killing animals who rescuers want to save because they spoke out publicly about inhumane conditions in the shelter), it would encourage TNR for community cats, and would allow animals to be adopted out more quickly. Florida CAPA has been introduced in both the House and Senate, but it is already being opposed by regressive shelter directors. The director of Tallahassee Animal Services has argued that CAPA is a bad idea because it would require her not to kill if there are empty cages, something she insists he should have the right to do. In her view, these animals are better dead than fed.

Maryland: Legislation currently pending in Maryland would do the same. The Maryland Companion Animal Protection Act would end convenience killing, retribution killing, and end the killing of community cats who are part of managed colonies: It is being opposed by PETA which insists that communities should round up and kill community cats because those cats might kill people. (WTF?)

Connecticut and Minnesota: Legislation being considered by a Task Force in Connecticut would end convenience and retribution killing, as well. It is being opposed by the Humane Society of the United States, which last year helped kill a similar law in Minnesota. HSUS has stated that it will “actively fight” CAPA, that animal rescuers are hoarders in disguise, and that these animals are better off dead.

If we are to succeed at reforming our nation’s kill shelters, if we are to end convenience killing, retribution killing, cruel methods of killing, and neglect and abuse in shelters, we are going to have to do it ourselves.

Things we can do to stop this madness:

If you live in Florida, Maryland, or Connecticut, lobby your legislators to cosponsor CAPA.

Stop making excuses for those who kill animals.

Stop supporting these groups with your philanthropic dollars. Your donations are being used to thwart lifesaving reform.

Stop giving these disgraceful “wolves in sheeps’ clothing” donations, that they use as BLOOD MONEY!

When We Come Together, Great Things Happen

While you may have gotten sick of all of the “Virginia Residents, Please Call the Governor and ask him to sign SB 1381” notices, I dont apologize for posting them over and over on WordPress and other social networks. When you have a passion inside you, it burns like an eternal flame…only longer.

When lives are at stake, the time for jerking around is over and the time for action is yesterday!

Virginia Governor, Terry McAuliffe SIGNED SB 1381 into law recently, and I want to say THANK YOU to everybody who helped.

You are heroes. Because of you, THOUSANDS of beautiful Pets will be saved every year.

Let me tell you WHY getting this particular Bill passed and SIGNED into law was so important:

There has never been a shortage of good hearted pet lovers, who consider pets family (rightly so, because PETS ARE FAMILY). But sometimes, we fall into that, “Well, I’m just one individual..what difference can I make?” trap, and do nothing. When thousands of other “you’s” are doing the same thing, YOU are an army, that can accomplish anything you desire.

SB 1381’s Passage & Signing proves that.

Another reason why SB 1381 was so important, was because it was historical. You see, alot of people dont realize the nauseating amount of politics, lies, greed, and public relations considerations that permeates society’s status quo, no matter the institution, be it the Military, Wall Street, Pharmaceutical groups, TV Networks, Religion, Newspapers, Hollywood, and yes, some “Animal Rights Groups”.

Everybody is looking to “sell” their “product”. And you cant sell a product that makes people sick or mad, can you? Thus, the frauds within the animal rights community…frauds like PETA, the HSUS, the ASPCA and death camps for pets with the words “Animal Shelter” printed on their facility, aren’t going to be honest with you…honesty doesnt sell. Bullflop sells. Because when you are talking about money, dignity and honor go out the window and in flies the blood sucking vampires known as greed, deception, corruption, and murder.

Many people dont realize that the very groups who are considered to be “friends of animals” are, in fact, the enemies of animals, who seek to harm…indeed, MURDER animals.

But “how can that be? They do so much for animals?” some might respond. SEE how good those public relations people are? They’ve got half of society brainwashed into believing that a group is ‘shinola’, when they are in fact, sh*t. But a good salesman/woman can make sh*t look like 24K Gold if they are talented, and deceptive enough.

Lets use, as our prime example, the ANIMAL MURDERING FRAUDS known as PETA. Do you know that PETA fought SB 1381’s passage and signing with the viciousness of a honey badger on a bad day? It’s true. Think about that……PETA…a group “that does so much for animals” or so some are brainwashed into thinking, OPPOSED LEGISLATION THAT WILL SAVE THOUSANDS OF ANIMALS! So, what a group *says” isnt worth the paper we wipe our a$$es with. It’s what you DO that defines you, and PETA’s actions on SB 1381 and MANY other Animal friendly Bills define PETA as a bunch of fraudulent, unethical, homicidal cultists, who seek to MURDER animals, instead of saving them. PETA spent the animal lovers’ DONATIONS, not on saving animals, but on trying to be able to continue to KILL ANIMALS! They even hired (with donor money, that donors think goes to “doing good for animals”, but which in fact goes to “killing legislation, so that PETA can continue to KILL animals”) a well known, and POWERFUL lobbyist to try and use their “influence” to kill SB 1381, knwoing that it would also kill thousands of animals every year.

That is the main reason why SB 1381 was created in the first place: To stop this group that donors think “does so much for animals” from KILLING HEALTHY/TREATABLE/ADOPTABLE ANIMALS!

Where is PETA’s headquarters: VIRGINIA.

What is SB 1381: VIRGINIA State Legislation.

Understand now? There is a lesson to be learned from this: JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE FLAPS THEIR GUMS, AND HAS GOOD PUBLIC RELATIONS PEOPLE SELLING THEIR “PRODUCT”, DOESN’T MEAN THAT THE PRODUCT IS WHAT IT IS ADVERTISED AS BEING.

PETA’s modus operandi is classic: They exploit animals, (such as those on fur farms, factory farms, etc) so that good hearted animal lovers will be drawn in by the group’s pleas to “Help these poor babies”, while including a donation button at the bottom of the page. PETA doesnt actually DO much to save these animals….taking off their clothes on a New York Street Corner will not save that Fox about to be cruelly killed in China. Not one Cow has been saved from slaughter because PETA used their millions of dollars to purchase the slaughterhouse and agreed to pay the employees NOT to murder animals (which PETA has the money to do) so that they could turn it into an animal sanctuary……not one Orca or Dolphin has been driven out of Seaworld in a tank of water on a giant truck and taken back to their rightful place in the ocean by PETA. But PETA’s goal isn’t to save cows from slaughter, or dolphins and orcas from Seaworld…if that WAS their goal, they would use their multi-million dollar bank account and put their money where their mouths are. No, their goal is to show animals suffering in terrible ways in order to make you enraged and sad, to the point that the “Donate Now” button on the bottom of the page looks like a warm blanket on a sub zero degree night. THAT is exploitation.

PETA makes as much money showing off suffering animals, while inserting a “donate now” button below the heart wrenching photos, as Seaworld does making Orcas and Dolphins jump out of the water for a little fish and meaningless approval of the crowd who doesnt know better, and who paid to see the “show”.

SB 1381 WAS CREATED TO PROTECT ANIMALS FROM PETA! Now, I ask you the following question: If PETA are about SAVING animals, why was a law necessary to protect animals FROM peta?

Because PETA doesn’t care about saving animals…if they did, they would have supported SB 1381. Instead they OPPOSED it and hired a lobbyist to try and shoot it down, so that they could continue to MURDER ANIMALS as much as their dark hearts desire.

PETA, the HSUS, ASPCA, and others have a history of shooting down legislation that would have SAVED animals, if not for these same “animal rights groups” (PETA, HSUS, ASPCA, et al) killing the legislation, and with it, killing millions of animals in sh*tholes disguised as “shelters” ever year.

Dont believe everything you think. Dont believe everything you’re told.
Dont trust these anti-animal frauds. Dont believe everything you’re sold.

Recently, authorities in Hanoi intercepted thousands of live cats (three tons) that were illegally smuggled in from China for human consumption.

It is illegal to consume cats in Vietnam, however, their regulations also mandate that evidence from smuggling operations must be “destroyed”. On February 2, police forces notified us that “all cats have been buried”. It is unclear whether the cats were killed before being buried or not.

UPDATE – Vietnam authorities confirm that the cats were crushed to death with a dump truck before being buried.

Please PROTEST this savage destruction of life:

Spay/Neuter Should Be Used to SAVE Lives, NOT End Them!

Article by Nathan Winograd (Thank you to No Kill Revolution for bringing this to Nathan’s attention)

Pima County, AZ’s animal shelter will no longer allow pregnant dogs to go to rescue groups so that the puppies can be born and weaned before the mother is spayed. Instead, the mother will be spayed and the puppies will be killed. Whether it is ethical to spay a pregnant dog is not an “abstract” discussion (and for me, it is not a religious one either). It is simply about life and death consequences.

Not only is the surgery harder and more risky for the mother, but if the kittens or puppies are viable, they must be individually killed, usually through an injection of sodium pentobarbital. Even when they are not, when a mother is spayed, the kittens or puppies die from anoxia (oxygen deprivation)…

Whenever I post about the needless killing of animals in shelters—such as my post on Saturday which discussed the decision by leadership at the pound in Pima, AZ to no longer send pregnant animals to rescue but to kill the unborn puppies instead—invariably one of the most common responses by those who defend killing is to claim that the animals are better off dead because there are already too many animals and not enough homes and no one wants the animals anyway. Beware: The Big Lies Parroted by Pet Murdering Groups

SiameseCatTwins4Ever

As if being habitually homicidal isn’t enough, pet murderers also have a habitual lying problem. It stands to reason, though. After all, if they were honest, they wouldn’t be allowed to get away with murder.

I’m about to say something important. I want you, the reader, to please remember it, and share it with every pet/animal lover who you know, if you would be so kind.

Are you ready? O.K. Here Goes: FACT: THE VAST MAJORITY OF PETS WHO ARE MURDERED, ARE HEALTHY, ADOPTABLE, AND NOT “SUFFERING”.

You’re outraged at that fact, aren’t you? THAT is the very reason why pet murderers such as PETA, HSUS, ASPCA and kill “shelters” lie to you, by pairing such words as “suffering”, “abused”, “hoarding” etc. with the term “humane euthanasia”; because to admit that the pet was healthy, and most are, is to admit that they have…

Shelter: To protect from harm, to provide refuge, a safe haven

The first time many animals experience neglect and abuse it at the very shelter that is supposed to protect them from it. Our shelters are in crisis. Why? Killing is an act of violence. And not only do people in shelters work at a very place that commits this violence, they have, in fact, been hired to do exactly that. Can we really be surprised when they dont clean thoroughly, dont feed the animals, handle them too roughly, neglect and abuse them, or simply ignore their cries for help? How does shoddy cleaning or rough handling or skipping meals compare with putting an animal to death? Because shelter workers understand that they have the power to kill each and every one of these animals, and will in fact kill most…

If you are one of the millions of Americans who watch the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) heart wrenching TV commercials and send them money, I am sure they love you. The more gullible and uninformed you are the better they like you. Collectively, the Humane Society of the United States, the ASPCA, and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals take in roughly $300 million per year. These are powerful organizations run by influential people. In a poll, 88% said they would not have donated to the ASPCA if they had known about the CEO’s nearly $500,000 a year salary. A commenter on the poll put it best, in my opinion: “If you do the math, Say donors donate $20.00 a month each. It would take 25,000 total donor months @ $20.00 a month to pay this salary.. Is this where you thought your…

The county of Kauai, one of the Hawaiian islands, assembled a nine member Feral Cat Task Force to make recommendations regarding the management of the community cat population.  The county paid $30,000 for the report, issued in March 2014.  The task force excluded the president of Kauai Ferals and was primarily comprised of individuals wishing to exterminate cats.

The final report highlighted the Billions and Billions of Birds myth often touted by cat haters and estimated the county’s feral cat population at 20,000.  The 10 year goal, as stated in the report, is for the island to have “zero feral, abandoned and stray cats” which is obviously an unattainable and unrealistic goal.  Gee, maybe they should have let the guy who knows feral cats have some input.

Among the recommendations made by the task force:

  • Expand the cat licensing ordinance…

Animals Have Souls..and DO Go To Heaven

An old man was holding his cat with one arm, and walking his dog with the other arm, and they were all walking down a hot, dusty road lined with a beautiful white fence on both sides. As they walked along, the old man and his cat and dog all became very thirsty and tired.

Soon, they came to a gate in the fence where, on the other side, they saw a nice grassy, wooded area surrounding a cool clear pool of fresh water. “We’d all feel better after a little rest in a place like that” thought the old man. But there was a sign over the gate that read “No Cats or Dogs” so they walked on. Further on, they came upon a man in flowing white robes standing just inside a strong iron gate across a path that led to a beautiful, sunny meadow with a cool…

New Website Demonstrates the Myth of Pet Overpopulation by Highlighting Success

Whenever I post about the needless killing of animals in shelters—such as my post on Saturday which discussed the decision by leadership at the pound in Pima, AZ to no longer send pregnant animals to rescue but to kill the unborn puppies instead—invariably one of the most common responses by those who defend killing is to claim that the animals are better off dead because there are already too many animals and not enough homes and no one wants the animals anyway. Sadly, these excuses often come from people who claim to love animals, even though they proceed to ignore my pleas that they take some time to educate themselves about why what they are arguing is not only contradicted by both fact and experience, but enables great harm.

For though the existence of pet overpopulation has been pedaled by the animal sheltering industry and sadly, the animal protection movement itself, for decades, in truth, it is simply does not exist. Citing statistics that show that there in fact plenty of homes available (ten times more, in fact, than the “supply” of animals in shelters) while trying to expose the true causes of shelter killing—primarily habit and convenience and despite existing life affirming alternatives collectively called “The No Kill Equation,” I recognize that while this information is important, nothing exposes the lie of pet overpopulation better than proof of those communities which have radically transformed themselves, which have rejected the excuse and the killing it enables and instead, have chosen to adopt out, rather than continue slaughtering, the animals in their care. And what these communities have discovered is that indeed there are plenty of homes available after all—a fact that even the regressive leadership at HSUS, at their last national conference, admitted to be true.

An exciting new website — Saving 90 — tracks just how many American communities have adopted their way out of killing or are very nearly there, a website that conclusively proves what can be accomplished when hand-wringing over the necessity of killing and promotion of the myth of pet overpopulation are replaced with determination and a can-do attitude bent on bringing such sordid killing to an end. Over 8,000,000 people live in communities saving 90% or more of dogs and cats in their shelters. Over 35,000,000 live in communities saving 80% or more of dogs and cats. And the numbers continue to grow.

Right now, this website tracks progress toward ending the killing of dogs and cats in our nation’s pounds and shelters. It will soon be updated to include rabbits and other animals. For those who want proof—just the stats and nothing else—demonstrating that many communities across the country are saving 95%, 99% and in a few cases 100% of the animals, here it is:

Spay/Neuter Should Be Used to SAVE Lives, NOT End Them!

ALL are EQUAL. All are Souls. All are ONE.

ALL are EQUAL. All are Souls. All are ONE.

Even when they are not, when a mother is spayed, the kittens or puppies die from anoxia (oxygen deprivation) due to lack of blood supply from the uterus once the vessels are clamped. They suffocate. That is not consistent with the No Kill philosophy.

Shelter leadership is claiming that this is being done for two reasons: the numbers of dogs already born and allowing the puppies to be born “increases the likelihood of disease” for the mom and puppies. As to the former, such an argument condones killing and while I support high volume, low cost sterilization and it is a core program of the No Kill Equation model of sheltering I champion, sterilization is a tool to save lives, not end them. Moreover, it is not an either-or proposition: for it is untrue that either unborn puppies (and presumably kittens) must die or those already born must. We can save them both. (See http://bit.ly/1zVEagB and http://bit.ly/198sATv.)

Second, killing puppies to reduce “the likelihood of disease” is an inherent contradiction and an obscene inversion of priorities. Not only can the stress and complications of doing a late term spay on the mother in the shelter increase the likelihood of her falling ill, but the argument that “having puppies in the shelter is really dangerous for them” is true because of the risk created by the people in the shelter itself. The argument amounts to this: it is dangerous for them because they might get sick and if they get sick, we might kill them. How much sense does it make to kill them to prevent that very thing—death—from happening? We kill them to prevent them from being killed. Moreover, advocates are asking that they be sent to rescue or foster care, not live in the shelter. Finally, killing puppies in utero actually causes suffering and it contradicts the very mission of a shelter.

The fundamental mission of a shelter is to save lives. Everything a shelter does should be a means to stop killing. But too many shelter directors and shelter veterinarians have forgotten this core principle; killing has simply become one more tool in the “medicine cabinet” of these managers. It sits beside the vaccinations, the parvocides, the cleaning solutions, and the antibiotics. But those other things are tools to keep animals alive, to reduce “the likelihood of disease.” One of the primary reasons shelters should vaccinate, clean, disinfect, socialize, foster, and implement all those other programs is so that animals do not get sick to the point where they are killed. Everything they are claiming to try to achieve is a means to the end of not killing. And so while vaccinations, parvocides, and antibiotics help us reach the goal of not killing, killing—by its very act—does not. It is an inherent contradiction to use “killing” as a means to “not killing.” If we could kill our way out of this problem, we would have been a No Kill nation many generations ago.

While Pima’s shelter has been making headway in saving lives, noting that their save rate has almost doubled (something I applaud), the puppies to be killed matter, too. And when statistics are reported, the puppies will be nowhere to be found. Because they are not yet born, even when they are viable and full term, even when they are removed from the mother and killed one by one through an overdose of barbiturates, their deaths will not be entered into the statistics. They simply will not count. Instead, their little bodies will be discarded in the trash as if they were nothing more than garbage, even when rescue groups are ready, willing, and able to save them.

(Thank you No Kill Revolution for forwarding me this.)

VIRGINIA Residents! Please Tell Governor To Sign SB 1381 Into Law

SB 1381, is a Bill that would require Virginia’s Animal Shelters to…well….. SHELTER pets, like a shelter should.

Recently SB 1381 was voted on by the House delegates of Virginia, and was PASSED by an overwhelming 95-2 vote.

PLEASE call Governor Terry McAuliffe today, at 804-786-2211, and urge him to sign this Bill (SB 1381) into law. Calls are being tallied, so this matters: phone, and insist that your friends phone as well. If this legislation is thwarted, despite the best efforts of citizens and their elected representatives, it will be a disaster for the animals of Virginia

My Complaint to the Virginia Department of Agriculture Against PETA

Virginia Residents, Please Tell Governor McAuliffe to sign SB 1381 into law. Spread the word.

On Tuesday I got some pretty disappointing news (to put it mildly), in response to my request to file a complaint against People for the Ethical Treatment of animals with the Virginia Department of Agriculture. This was what I emailed to them on February 13:

Good Afternoon,

I would like to file a complaint against People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals in regards to what, I believe, happens within their Community Animal Project.

Fifteen years ago I worked for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals in the Community Animal Project division as a Field Officer. I would like very much to have a chance to give you my first hand account of the practices within PeTA towards the animals that they take in to their “shelter” (I use quotes because, during my time there, there was no actual shelter beyond an empty closet and the warehouse where animals…

Oklahoma Residents! URGENT Gas Chamber Action Needed A.S.A.P.

GAS CHAMBER BILL ALERT !!!

This week is the last opportunity for the gas chamber ban bill to be heard in committee! The bill has been assigned to the House Agriculture Committee, but so far it has not been scheduled for a hearing. If it does not receive a hearing when the committee meets this Wednesday, the bill will be dead for the year. We have heard that the committee is not planning to hear the bill. Apparently there is opposition from the Oklahoma Pork Council who fear that if gas chambers are banned in Oklahoma animal shelters, then next they will be banned in commercial pork production facilities. The gas chamber ban bill (HB1367) is very specific in that it only addresses ‘animal shelters’, nevertheless the opposition from the pork council apparently remains, hence the decision not to hear the bill. We need lots of calls and emails to the chair and vice chair of the House Agriculture Committee today asking them to please give HB1367, the animal shelter gas chamber ban bill, a hearing! Some facts on the problems associated with carbon monoxide chambers in shelter settings are below:

Carbon Monoxide Chamber Use in Animal Shelters:

CO chambers cannot provide humane euthanasia for shelter populations: Often the animals euthanized in shelters are old, young, ill or injured; none of these animals can be humanely euthanized in a gas chamber. Even healthy adult dogs and cats will suffer stressed just by being placed in the dark, unfamiliar environment of a gas chamber, and may become panicked by the sights, sounds and smells of the equipment and the presence of other animals. For these reasons, CO chambers cannot be relied upon to consistently produce a humane euthanasia for shelter animals, so their use cannot be condoned.

CO chambers put staff risk: A common fallacy is that the use of CO chambers is safer for staff members than euthanasia by injection because it avoids direct handing of animals. In fact, the opposite is true – the use of CO chambers actually poses greater physical and psychological harm to staff. Staff must still handle, transport and place fractious and fearful animals into the CO chamber, and as such are at risk of bites and scratches. Even otherwise friendly, tractable animals may react adversely when forced into a small, dark, confined space like a CO chamber. And the use of the CO chamber equipment itself poses a grave risk to caretakers, as animal care workers have been injured and killed by carbon monoxide gas.

CO chambers are more costly: A CO chamber must be commercially manufactured and properly equipped and maintained or its operation will be painful and inhumane even for healthy adult dogs and cats. Studies have proven that it is actually more expensive to operate a CO chamber within the strict operational parameters required than it is to purchase and use approved euthanasia drugs.

Please contact Representative John Enns and Representative Scott Biggs by telephone, email or both and ask them to please schedule HB1367 for a hearing on Wednesday, February 25th. These calls and emails must happen TODAY.

A No Kill Puerto Rico

The Puerto Rico House of Representatives is working on an analysis pursuant to House Resolution 1024 which orders the Municipal and Regionalization Affairs Commission to undertake an exhaustive investigation concerning free-living animals throughout the archipelago, with the purpose of identifying and developing a plan to address these animals.

Public hearings will be held in March. Of course, it is imperative that only No Kill programs and services be implemented.

On behalf of the No Kill Advocacy Center, I asked them to legislate non-lethal policies at Puerto Rico shelters with a focus on adoption, offer free, high volume sterilization, promote neuter and release as an alternative to killing of free-living animals, and ban the gas killing of animals.

As Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory, if you would like to participate, you can send your polite and thoughtful No Kill (No Matar) message to the attention of The Hon. José Rodríguez Quiles, Commission of Municipal Affairs and Regionization here:

Sterilizing PETA (THANK YOU PET LOVERS)

My fellow Pet Lovers (especially those in Virginia),

Today, we dealt a BIG blow to PETA’s mass killing of pets (see article below). Virginia’s pet lovers, please…please..voice your support for the No Kill Advocacy Center’s Petition to further hinder PETA’s ability to massacre pets.

By Nathan Winograd

Today, the Virginia House of Delegates overwhelmingly passed SB 1381, requiring shelters in Virginia to be “operated for the purpose of finding permanent adoptive homes.” In other words, it does what the public already thinks shelters do and what the dictionary says they do. But some don’t. The bill is a response to PETA—which is licensed in Virginia as a shelter—killing over 90% of the animals, with no effort to find them homes and their stealing Maya, a happy and healthy dog, from her porch while her family was out and killing her that very day.

Despite PETA’s intense lobbying effort to derail the vote, despite their hiring a professional lobbyist with donor funds to kill it, despite manipulating their supporters to urge its defeat by lying to them, today’s vote was not even close: 95 to 2. The bill has already passed the Senate. Not only does the outcome prove that participating in the political process—as thousands of Virginians did by writing, email and telephoning their Delegates urging a “yes” vote—can have a profound impact, but it shows that PETA has lost all credibility with the Virginia legislature.

The bill also forced PETA to once again reveal it’s true colors: that an organization claiming to represent the “ethical treatment of animals” would hire a lobbyist at donor expense to defeat an important piece of animal protection legislation demonstrates once again that PETA is not committed to furthering the rights of animals, but rather, to actively subverting them.

While the bill continues to make its way through the legislature and then to the Governor, on behalf of the No Kill Advocacy Center I have asked the Commissioner of the Virginia Department of Agriculture to issue regulations requiring shelters in Virginia to maintain and provide records to the public that cover when and how each animal was taken in, why the animal was taken in, the condition of each animal, what attempts were made to reunite the animal with the family, the kinds of care and treatment each animal received, the disposition of each animal, and if the animal was killed, when and why the animal was killed.

A copy of the petition is available here:

Click to access Pet-for-Rulemaking.pdf

As I write in the petition for rulemaking,

“We believe that by passing the requested regulations, organizations will be less likely to abuse state benefits—benefits such as their ability to acquire the controlled substances used to kill Maya and others—to the detriment of the animals of the Commonwealth and the people who love them…

“We are asking you to pass regulations that will protect families in Virginia, protect animals, assist state regulators in monitoring the activities of its licensees, and provide taxpayers with the information they need to be informed citizens… As Justice Louis Brandeis once wrote, ‘sunlight is… the best of disinfectants.’”

The Commissioner of VDACS “directed staff to prepare and submit” the petition for consideration. The comment period opens today. If you live in Virginia, please email in support of the No Kill Advocacy Center petition. Your voice makes a difference.

If you live in Virginia, please voice your support for the petition:

If you do not live in Virginia, please share it with those who do.

Thank you again my fellow pet loving friends!

No Kill in a Nutshell: All You Need To Know & Do To Make YOUR Community No Kill

Shelter: To protect from harm, to provide refuge, a safe haven

The first time many animals experience neglect and abuse is at the very shelter that is supposed to protect them from it. Our shelters are in crisis. Why? Killing is an act of violence. And not only do people in shelters work at a very place that commits this violence, they have, in fact, been hired to do exactly that. Can we really be surprised when they dont clean thoroughly, dont feed the animals, handle them too roughly, neglect and abuse them, or simply ignore their cries for help? How does shoddy cleaning or rough handling or skipping meals compare with putting an animal to death?

Thank you.

My Letter to Virginia Delegates

LIFE OR DEATH….IMMEDIATE ATTENTION PLEASE!

mom2nomads

Tomorrow I will be e-mailing all one hundred Virginia House members, asking them to vote yes on SB 3181. The following is the letter I’ve written to them — I wanted to share it on my blog as well. I’m giving my perspective not just as a former PETA employee but as someone who has experienced animal rescue overseas, and someone who has seen how shelters and rescuers have done so much with so little in order to help the sickest animals I’ve ever seen. Keeping that in mind, I know PETA, with its incredible resources, is capable of more — SB 1381 would require them to rise to that.

Dear Delegate,

I am writing today to ask you to please pass SB 1381. As a former PETA employee who worked in the Community Animal Project (the division that does field and shelter work), I know from firsthand experience that…

D – Day; VIRGINIA Animal Lovers It’s Now or Never!

By Nathan Winograd

On Monday, the Virginia House of Delegates is going to vote on a bill that will determine whether animals are adopted into homes or are put to death. This is the final vote before it reaches the Governor. SB 1381, which has already passed the Senate, requires shelters in Virginia to be “operated for the purpose of finding permanent adoptive homes and facilitating other lifesaving outcomes for animals”: http://lis.virginia.gov/cgi-bin/legp604.exe?151+sum+SB1381

In other words, it does what the public already thinks shelters do and what the dictionary says they do. But some don’t. Organizations that simply kill animals would no longer be allowed to do so. And they have the ear of the Virginia Animal Control Association which is lobbying hard against it—and the animals. In addition, it appears PETA has used money people have donated to save animals to hire a professional lobbyist to kill the bill—so they can continue killing the animals without making them available for adoption. See http://huff.to/17lzuce

We need your support.

The New “KILLING FIELDS”

By: Global Conservation Group

Recently, authorities in Hanoi intercepted thousands of live cats (three tons) that were illegally smuggled in from China for human consumption.

It is illegal to consume cats in Vietnam, however, their regulations also mandate that evidence from smuggling operations must be “destroyed”. On February 2, police forces notified us that “all cats have been buried”. It is unclear whether the cats were killed before being buried or not.

UPDATE – Vietnam authorities confirm that the cats were crushed to death with a dump truck before being buried.

Please PROTEST this savage destruction of life:

No Kill Means No Compromising and NOBODY left behind

By Nathan Winograd

Because he apparently admits he enjoys killing animals—animals who have adopters waiting, animals with treatable conditions, healthy, full term puppies in utero, and animals such as Lane, a 14 week old kitten. Lane was killed, not only in full view of other cats, but in a manner that caused grave and prolonged suffering. According to an expose of the shelter, “He was underdosed with Fatal Plus by a staff member and placed in a cage where he began seizing. He suffered for 90 minutes before finally being injected with a weight appropriate dose of Fatal Plus.” He is not the only one. The Executive Director has resigned under a cloud of misconduct, “Dr. Death” is on his way out, too, and, thankfully, the City is claiming to be moving forward with reforms.

At another California shelter with a 90% save rate that also calls itself No Kill, a lawsuit will soon be filed alleging, among other things, fraud. According to the complaint, the shelter believes it has carte blanche to call itself No Kill while killing healthy and highly treatable animals so long as the save rate doesn’t drop below 90%. At this shelter, plaintiffs have documented dogs who were killed for arbitrary reasons and cats with minor colds falling to the needle.

There are 90% shelters that kill community cats. Indeed, one such shelter asks people to fill out a “euthanize card” when bringing in feral cats. That way, they do not impact the shelter’s statistics as they are considered turned in for purposes of killing. There are shelters that exclude “owner requested killing” and deaths in kennels as doing so would reduce save rates below 90%. Others that are at 90% kill large, exuberant dogs, pit bulls, or kill healthy and treatable bunnies and other animals. Moreover, some communities use coalition-wide rates which include healthy animals brought in from outside the jurisdiction to keep the save rate up, while treatable animals from their city are still killed, such as occurs in San Francisco.

Despite this, there are some who insist that if a community saves 90% of the animals, it must be classified as “No Kill.” In reality, No Kill has nothing to do with a shelter achieving a 90% save rate, but, rather, ending the killing of all healthy and treatable animals, including all community cats and species beyond dogs and cats as well. While that number should—given advances in veterinary and behavior medicine since the introduction of the 90% threshold—be between 95% and 100% of all animals, varying slightly from year to year, the question we must ask of every shelter claiming to be No Kill is not, did they save 90%? But rather, did they save the lives of every single healthy and treatable animal entering the shelter?

So where did this rubric for determining whether or not a shelter is living up to its responsibilities to the animals and the people it serves come from? It came from me.

Why did I say this and why is this no longer an accurate way to measure success? You can read the answers here: http://www.nathanwinograd.com/?p=14815

Of course, while I celebrate the fact that shelters that use to kill 50% of the animals are now saving 90% and while I celebrate the hundreds that now do so, allowing the last ten percent of animals who are still being killed at these shelters to be swept under the rug was never what I intended when I began promoting the 90% benchmark almost a decade ago. And while, until somewhat recently, the “90% Rule” was an incredibly powerful tool for inspiring change, one that motivated activists, and highlighted—by the sheer contrast it afforded—just how poorly our nation’s shelters were performing, changing circumstances have tragically allowed it to morph into a tool that is being misused and abused by unscrupulous shelter directors to justify needless killing.

For as I believe and I know most animal lovers do, too, I hold this truth to be self-evident: that each and every animal entering a shelter is entitled to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Not just 90% of them…

Lane, a kitten who suffered for 90 minutes while being killed in a shelter that some call “No Kill” because it saves 91% of the animals. Why bother with saving the more challenging cases when the movement is willing to say you have already crossed the finish line? The time has come to reach higher.

Maryland Residents! Please Support Maryland CAPA

The Maryland Companion Animal Protection Act (HB0876) would, among other things, end convenience killing in shelters, including making it illegal for shelters to kill animals when rescue groups are willing to save them, make it illegal to kill community cats in a TNR program, require shelters to provide prompt and necessary care to animals, and bring transparency to shelter operations: http://1.usa.gov/1EhegH4

If you live in Maryland, we need your help overcoming the opposition of regressive pounds and their allies. Its first hearing is set for March 4.

1. Please contact your local legislator and ask them to sponsor and vote “Yes” on HB0876: http://mdelect.net/

2. Use this form to contact members of the committee hearing the bill to urge a “Yes” vote: http://cqrcengage.com/thenokillnation/app/write-a-letter…

Virginia Pet Lovers: URGENT! Your Help Needed!

Virginia’s Pet Lovers!! Your Help Needed To Save Lives!!

Fight to Stop PETA’s Killing Grows

February 6, 2015 by Nathan J. Winograd

What You Can Do To Help

My website http://www.whyPETAkills.org which describes PETA’s recent theft and killing of Maya–a happy and healthy dog–from her home was trending on Reddit yesterday, hitting the No. 4 spot last night.

Reddit reports about 174 million monthly visits. Combined with the 5.1 million page views about PETA on my Facebook page this past week, as well as news stories around the country including television news stations and newspapers like the New York Post, the Huffington Post, and Gannett papers across the country, more and more people are learning the truth.

In response to growing public outcry over Maya’s illegal killing, the Attorney General of Virginia just announced he is opening up an Animal Protection Unit to oversee the prosecution of these kinds of cases. You can watch the news report about this development by clicking here.

Tragically, Maya was not the only one to fall victim to PETA’s campaign of companion animal extermination.

Only 23 were adopted.

What is being done to protect animals from PETA? And what can you do?

■As noted, the Virginia Attorney General has opened an animal protection unit to prosecute cases like the theft and killing of Maya.

■The Virginia legislature is considering a bill which would require PETA to find homes for animals, rather than just kill them. SB 1381 passed the Senate and will now be taken up by the House. If you live in Virginia, please contact your House Member and urge a “Yes” vote. If you do not live in Virginia, please share this with those who do.

■The No Kill Advocacy Center has filed a petition for rulemaking asking for more transparency in agencies licensed as “private shelters” like PETA. Such a rule change will protect families in Virginia, protect animals, and assist state regulators in monitoring the activities of its licensees like PETA, and thus prevent them from getting away with “murder.” Yesterday, I received a letter from the Commissioner of the Virginia Dept. of Agriculture & Consumer Services (VDACS) informing me that she has directed staff to pursue the petition. Virginians will have a chance to comment in favor of the rule change beginning Feb. 23.

■The No Kill Advocacy Center has also filed a petition with VDACS to revoke PETA’s status as a shelter today.

■Share, share, share. PETA took in nearly $52,000,000 from unsuspecting donors last year who never could have imagined that the money they sent PETA to save animals would be used to slaughter them instead.

PLEASE REMEMBER: IF YOU LIVE IN VIRGINIA CONTACT YOUR HOUSE MEMBER AND URGE A “YES” VOTE ON SB 1381.

IF YOU DON’T LIVE IN VIRGINIA, PLEASE SHARE THIS WITH EVERYONE YOU KNOW WHO DOES.

Together we can stop PETA’s mass murder of Pets!
Thank you

Why PETA Kills

In the last 12 years, PETA has killed 31,250 companion animals. While PETA claims the animals it takes in and kills are “unadoptable,” this is a lie. It is a lie because employees have admitted it is a lie. They have described 8 week old, 10…

TNR & No Kill: The 1-2 Punch That Will End Shelter Killing

Trap-Neuter (or Spay, UNLESS the female is pregnant) -Return (TNR)

Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is practiced by all civilized and responsible communities, because TNR works. It has been proven in the field by the EXPERTS, (as opposed to the disproven, ignorant diatribes spewed by the cat haters who do not have a clue about TNR, much less understanding how well it works and that it is based on good ole’ fashioned common sense, and hard science.) These same cat haters, who hypocritically call for the deaths of living souls (Cats) who are equally as precious and deserving of life as the rest of us, arent interested in the facts, because they have an agenda, and no matter how fictional it is and no matter how disproven it is, they cling to their mythical agenda in blissful ignorance because they wish to see cats dead, rather than alive. These same hypocrites fail to mention that there are over 7 billion human animals walking this Earth, destroying everyone and everything in their paths (next target: feral cats), and yet nobody calls for OUR eradication…..funny how things change when YOU are the one targeted for death. We have no problem saying “Kill, kill kill kill” like a bunch of uncivilized cavemen/women, yet if someone wanted to kill US, our song would change to “Save us, save us, save us, save us”. So I decided that, for those who care about the facts, that I’d share them with you. Calling for the deaths of precious souls..cats, is wrong. No amount of verbal anti-cat spewage can ever make it right.

With that in mind, here are the facts about TNR (Trap, Neuter (or spay) and Return):

TNR is a process where caregivers who are feeding feral cats trap them in humane traps. They then take them to a spay/neuter program, or to a nearby Vet who they are familiar with and after recovery, return the cats to where they are feeding them. Adoptable cats and kittens are placed in homes whenever possible. Just because you see a cat outside doesn’t mean that they are feral…they could be PETS, and killing someone’s pet is a CRIME….morally and legally. Furthermore, pets should not be targeted for death, because their OWNERS let them outside, anymore so than a 4 year old kid should be killed for roaming around the neighborhood because their deadbeat parents werent watching them.

A life is a life. A soul is a soul. Our human animal ignorance and arrogance notwithstanding.

TNR works for many reasons:

Information on how well TNR works is readily available to anyone who wishes to look for it.

The Stanford University Cat Network reduced its feral population from 1000-1500 cats to 300 over a ten-year period. The Southern Animal Foundation in Louisiana reduced one New Orleans population from 500 to 65 over three years, through TNR and adoptions. Astonishing numbers of kittens have not been born due to these efforts. In fact TNR has worked EVERYWHERE, that has given it a fair chance to work.

TNR is the compassionate approach/solution to reducing the feral and stray cat populations. TNR teaches compassion and responsible cat care. While TNR actually reduces the number of cats breeding, it also opens the door to educating people about the importance of spaying and neutering, and the plight of feral and stray cats. Trapping and killing teaches young and old that it is okay to create unwanted offspring and then kill the surplus – leaving no room for education or compassion for life.

Trapping and killing does not solve the problem. Trapping and killing has been practiced for many years and the verdict is in: IT DOES NOT WORK.

For all the years this inhumane, careless, and heartless killing was practiced, the cat population continued to explode.

There are MORE feral and stray cats where the communities kill them, and LESS feral and stray cats where the communities TNR them. Do the math.

In uncivilized, cruel communities where cats are killed, new cats replace those cats removed. Cats tend to congregate around a food source. When cats are trapped and removed from an area, new cats move in to take advantage of the food source. Alley Cat Allies, the feral cat EXPERTS, call this phenomenon “the vacuum effect.”

Did I mention that killing cats costs taxpayers MORE money than TNR’ing the cats? Yes, indeed, trap and kill is more expensive than TNR. Trapping and killing cats is a tax payer burden. It costs on average $75 to $100 for an animal control agency to trap, house, kill, and dispose of one cat. It costs a TNR program $25 to spay or neuter one cat. Yet again, do the math and tell me what you come up with.

Caregivers will not allow these innocent cats to be cruelly killed. Thousands of kind people feed and care for feral and stray cats. Most will not allow the cats they feed to be trapped and killed, but welcome the opportunity to have the cats trapped, neutered and returned. If their only choice is to have the cats killed, they will opt to do nothing and the cats will breed – adding to the overpopulation problem.

Society does not support trapping and killing. When communities have tried to implement mass trapping and killing efforts, the community outcry has stopped the effort.

TNR helps reduce the number of cats euthanized at shelters. When fewer kittens are born to feral and stray cats, fewer cats and kittens enter shelters. This means fewer are killed because there aren’t enough homes for all the cats who need them, and fewer are deemed unadoptable because they are wild (untamed). Fewer cats competing for adoptive homes means more find a home and fewer are therefore euthanized.

TNR works. Killing is wrong. TNR prevents killing and reduces the feral/stray cat populations. For the third time, do the math.

I hope that you have been enlightened by these facts and that you be will compassionate, civilized, and economically smart enough to demand that YOUR city implement a city-wide TNR Program and give it a chance….you’ll see for yourselves…that it works.

—————————Our Pets are being murdered by the millions every year, in poor excuses for animal “shelters”. There ARE life saving alternatives (see below), but kill “shelter” operators are used to the status quo of killing pets, rather than saving them. YOU can help change that, by checking out the links below, and then demanding that your local “shelter” officials, Mayor, City Council Members, Representatives etc. actively fight to stop this disgusting massacre of our four legged family members. URGENT! Virginia Residents, Your Help Needed to Save Lives!

Attention Virginia Residents: Two animal protection bills need your support. We are happy to report that SB 693 and SB 1381 passed the Senate Agriculture Committee and will face a full Senate floor vote.

SB 693: This bill would clarify that sterilizing and releasing feral cats back to their habitats is not illegal, allowing cat advocates to continue doing so without fear of prosecution.

SB 1381: This bill clarifies the language for what constitutes a private shelter in Virginia, requiring them to be “operated for the purpose of finding permanent adoptive homes and facilitating other lifesaving outcomes for animals.”

If you live in Virginia, please contact your state Senator and ask for a yes vote: http://whosmy.virginiageneralassembly.gov/

The Human Animal’s Lethal Arrogance

There exists on this Earth, a lethal arrogance. We see it in kill “shelters”, at PETA, the HSUS, ASPCA, and elsewhere:

Some arrogant/ignorant humans treat pets as though we were omniscient gods‚ lying by deluding others into believing that death is our loving “gift” to them.

By the narrow minded. By the weak in soul.

No Kill Programs are implemented by those truly evolved enough to know that a cat’s life means equally as much to Him/Her, that a human animal’s life means to them!

It’s time to get over ourselves. We humans do not have the patent on life. We are but one of millions of species of animals on Earth, (most of whom were here long before us) and we are no more, and no less, deserving of rights, and of life, than anybody else.

Live and let live……..or f*ck off.

"My life matters equally as much as yours. Respect me and my right to live, if you want others to respect you and your right to live."

“My life matters equally as much as yours. Respect me and my right to live, if you want others to respect you and your right to live.”

What happens when you hire a new director who refuses to hide behind excuses and has a passion for saving lives?

Fremont County, CO: “Before [Doug Rae] took over as executive director … every month nearly half the animals in the shelter were put down… In October, only 7 percent of animals in the shelter had to be put down. In November, 1 percent. And last month, no animals in the shelter were killed…”

New director turns Humane Society of Fremont County around: http://bit.ly/1sd5dWs

Madison County, AR: “The euthanasia rate…was at 74% and we’ve been able to decrease that to 2%” thanks to Shonna Harvey.

Madison Co. Pet Shelter Drops Euthanasia Rate to 2%: http://bit.ly/1AnJ7kc

Seagoville, TX: “Fewer animals lost their lives all year [under Karl Bailey] than used to be killed in a week.”

Atten-Hut: Sgt. Bailey in Command: http://bit.ly/XvRfQ9 (In 2014, Seagoville had a 99% save rate. They did not kill a single cat all year).

Hundreds of cities and towns across America, representing over 7,000,000 people, now have save rates above 90% and the numbers continue to grow; the majority achieved it in six months or less. Killing is a choice. Saving Lives is a choice too. Choose life over killing. Go No Kill.

Do you have what it takes to save lives? http://bit.ly/YGClCl We need No Kill advocates to take over shelters across the country.

WARNING: PETA may be in your neighborhood rounding up animals to kill.

WARNING: PETA may be in your neighborhood rounding up animals to kill.

The Theft and Killing of Maya

On October 18, 2014, in Parksley, VA, PETA stole Maya, a happy and healthy dog, from her porch while her family was out. They killed her that very day.

According to a spokesman for Maya’s family, PETA came to the trailer park where the family lives, where most of the residents are Spanish speaking with few resources. The PETA representatives befriended the residents. They got to know who lived where and who had dogs. In fact, they sat with the family on the same porch off which they later took Maya. Waiting until the family was away from the home, PETA employees backed their van up to the porch and threw biscuits to Maya, in an attempt to coax her off her property and therefore give PETA the ability to claim she was a stray dog “at large.” But Maya refused to stay off the porch and ran back. Thinking that no one was around, one of the employees—who was later charged with larceny—went onto the property and took Maya.

When the family returned and found their beloved Maya missing, they searched around the neighborhood before checking the video on the surveillance camera. That is when they saw the PETA van on the film and recognized the woman who had come to their house on prior occasions to talk to them about Maya. They called PETA and asked for Maya’s return. According to a family spokesperson, PETA claimed it did not have the dog. When PETA was told that its employees had been filmed taking the dog, they hung up. Shortly afterward, a PETA attorney called and informed the family that Maya was dead. PETA had killed her. She may not be the only one. On the day they stole Maya, other animals went missing as well. Had a surveillance video not been available, the killing of Maya would have remained unknown, as are the fates of the other animals. In the last 11 years, PETA has killed 29,426 animals.

PETA’s Response

In a dishonest attempt at damage control, PETA put out a full page ad in the newspaper. The ad intentionally misleads people about their campaign of extermination against community cats. It says nothing of their theft and killing of Maya. It does not mention the arrests of PETA employees for larceny. It does not mention that this is not the first time PETA employees have been arrested for killing animals. In fact, PETA refuses to answer questions about why they stole and killed Maya: http://bit.ly/15kRPFX And though PETA takes in thousands of animals a year, only to put the vast majority to death, the ad offered two dogs for adoption, hoping to defray criticism for their killing of thousands of others. Given that they only adopt out 1% of the animals they take in, those two dogs, if indeed they are adopted out rather than killed, will be some of the few spared from the needle.

The No Kill Advocacy Center Response

The No Kill Advocacy Center has responded by:

– Asking the Virginia Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services (VDACS) to revoke PETA’s ability to kill animals: http://bit.ly/1zxqE5o

– Requesting a petition for rulemaking asking for regulations requiring more transparency in Virginia “shelters”: http://bit.ly/1BP4U3Z

– Drafting and asking the state to pass “Maya’s Law”: http://bit.ly/1zJoHDb

My Response

Today, I, and other animal lovers, also responded. We placed this ad in the same newspaper to counter PETA’s misinformation. The people who live near PETA headquarters and whose animals may be at risk should be aware of the danger PETA poses to their beloved animal companions so that they may take precautionary measures, such as not letting their animals go outside unsupervised. They also have a right to know that an organization located within their vicinity is letting loose individuals who not only maniacally believe that killing is a good thing and that the living want to die, but who are legally armed with lethal drugs which they have already proven—29,426 times in the last decade—that they are not adverse to using: http://bit.ly/1bdIqes

The Response By Others

We are not alone:

– A Senator calls for an investigation of PETA: http://bit.ly/1uAn44m

– The Richmond SPCA calls for an investigation of PETA: http://bit.ly/1sxijIO

– The Accomack County attorney calls for an investigation of PETA: http://delmarvane.ws/1JXDKOj

– The Virginia Federation of Humane Societies calls for an investigation of PETA: http://bit.ly/1ygmbFq

When you donate to PETA, you pay to kill animals like Maya and thousands of others every year

"I know you're healthy, and want to live, but I'm unhealthy and of unsound mind and want you to die, so , let's just call it a 'loving death', so that the idiots who support me will think this is somehow 'good' for you, though I'd never want someone to do to ME, what I'm gonna do to you."
